Rapper Charged With Slashing Face Of Gay Couple In Apparent Hate Crime

Mousey Baby assaulted three men outside of a gay nightclub in Brooklyn.

A Brooklyn rapper was indicted on hate crime charges Wednesday for attacking three men outside a gay nightclub earlier this month.

32-year-old James Thomas, who performs as Mousey Baby, was charged with slashing one man in the face, stabbing another and shoving a third to the ground, all while hurling anti-LGBT slurs at them as they left Langston Night Club on the morning of March 5.

According to DNA Info, the attacks occurred outside local eatery Crown Fried Chicken, which is down the street from the club in Brooklyn's Bed-Stuy neighborhood.

Prosecutors said the incident occurred at 4:30 am as patrons of the establishment began pouring onto the street, with many of them heading to the chicken joint.

This is when Thomas walked into the restaurant and began yelling homophobic insults at the crowd before slashing one of the victims across the face with a knife. He then fled the scene.

On the street, he encountered two more club goers, one of whom he pushed to the ground and threatened with a knife before turning to the other and stabbing him twice, authorities said.

The victim attacked inside the restaurant required 18 stitches to patch up his face and the second stabbing victim needed three stitches and spent the night in a local hospital, prosecutors explained.

Though Thomas left before police could arrive, he later turned himself in after authorities released surveillance footage connecting him to the attacks.

He's currently being held on $150,000 bail and faces up to 25 years in prison on a slew of felony charges, including assault as a hate crime. Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez has vowed to come down hard on the rapper and anyone else accused of targeting LGBT Brooklynites.

“In Brooklyn, everyone, regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or religion must be able to safely walk the streets without fear of being senselessly attacked,” he said in a statement. “This defendant’s alleged actions were particularly egregious as he attacked three innocent people simply because he perceived them to be gay. We will now seek to hold him accountable.”
