MTV's New Gay Comedy, "Faking It," Gets Trailer: WATCH

faking it

Faking It, the new scripted comedy from MTV, got a new trailer today. Debuting April 22, the show stars Rita Volk and Katie Stevens as Karma and Amy, two teens pretending to be lesbians to become more popular.

Well, at least one of them is pretending.

Showrunner Carter Covington had this to say of the plot:

I was shocked [by the premise]. That idea seemed so foreign to me given the world I grew up in, but this kid explained that he went to a very tolerant high school where being gay was like a badge of honor. That’s when I realized there are schools out there where being gay is no longer a problem, and tolerance is viewed as an asset.

It made me think Faking It could work if we set it a high school like that and had one of the girls actually have a crush on her best friend.

Check out the trailer for the new show, which also stars Michael Willett as Shane, Amy and Karma's classmate and the most popular boy in school.
