Mural Of Vladimir Putin Making Out With Donald Trump Goes Viral

"[Trump and Putin] both have an ego that is too big, and it is funny that they get along well."

A mural of Donald Trump kissing Vladimir Putin in Lithuania has become something of an Internet meme.

The mural, painted by artist Mindaugas Bonanu on the side of a barbecue restaurant in Vilnius, was unveiled by owner Dominykas Čečkauskas on Thursday.

It's an homage of sorts to a famous mural in Berlin, My God, Help Me to Survive This Deadly Love, which shows Soviet premier Leonid Brezhnev and East German leader Erich Honecker, painted by street artist Dmitri Vrubel in 1990.

Socialist leaders once greeted each other with a full-on kiss on the lips. The imagery was also used by Benetton in its "unhate" campaign.

While many decry Putin's treatment of his citizens, he and Trump have exchanged compliments—the Russian leader calling the reality star "a very colorful person, talented without any doubt" and Trump replied it "a great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond."

Čečkauskas told the Baltic News Service that Trump and Putin "both have an ego that is too big, and it is funny that they get along well."

He added, “We are in a sort of a Cold War again, and America may get a president who will want to be friends with Russia.”

If Russia and the US ever made out, he said, "it would happen in the Baltic states... with tongues or with tanks."
