See The "Murphy Brown" Cast Reunite In First Photo From Series Revival
FYI is back on the air.
Continuing the current trend of TV revivals—including the massively successful Roseanne—CBS ordered a new 13-episode season of the classic ’90s sitcom, Murphy Brown—and now we have our first look at the cast reunited on the set of the revival.
The picture was posted on Candice Bergen's Instagram account and shows her with Diane English, the series creator, along with her original Murphy Brown co-stars Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto and Grant Shaud.
“Murphy Brown returns to a world of cable news, social media, fake news and a very different political and cultural climate,” CBS said in a statement when the revival was announced.
The original series ran from 1988 to 1998, achieving a high level of cultural notoriety during the 1992 presidential campaign when Dan Quayle criticized Murphy for ”mocking the importance of fathers by bearing a child alone and calling it just another ‘lifestyle choice.”’
The sitcom won 18 Emmys during its run, including two for Outstanding Comedy Series. Bergen won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series a record five times.
The revival is set to premiere in the fall on CBS.
