The poem "I Want A Dyke For President" was written by AIDS activist Zoe Leonard in 1992, but its poignant message remains just as relevant in 2016 during this circus of an election season.

Dazed tapped rapper Mykki Blanco to recite the poem, which takes a look at "the violent banality of our elected politicians" and holds a mirror to our current political climate.

Blanco, an artist who celebrates queerness while challenging social norms, was the perfect person to deliver the powerful performance, looking straight into the camera to express the desperation that so many of us feel.

"I want a dyke for president," Blanco recites. "I want a person with AIDS for president, and I want a faggot to be vice president."
