Naomi Campbell just lives life better than the rest of us.
She testifies in court better than we do.
She gets out of jail better than we do.
And during a global pandemic, she prepares for the spread of coronavirus better than we do. In the latest episode of Campbell’s YouTube series, Being Naomi, the supermodel shows us how she managed her anxiety around a flight from Los Angeles back home to New York as the panic was hitting a, uh, fever pitch.
Campbell previously shared her flight routine, which involved her wiping down everything in her immediate vicinity, from the arm rests of her seat to the handles of her Louis Vuitton luggage. Some may have scoffed at her sanitary exuberance, which she’s been embracing for some 17 years, but you just try finding Clorox wipes in the current climate.
This time around, the super was even more cautious about flying than usual, donning a full hazmat suit, gloves, a face mask (she “disagrees” about the efficacy of wearing masks), and goggles.
She completed this “Seeking a Runway for the End of the World” realness with a Burberry cape (naturally) before heading to the airport.
Though Campbell gets the absurdity of her hazmat haute couture, she’s serious about protecting herself in perhaps one of the worst situations one can find oneself during an outbreak: flying home.
“In all honesty, this is not a funny time, this is not a humorous time. I’m not doing this for laughs,” Naomi explains. “This is how I feel comfortable traveling. If I have to go, I’m going like this.”
At the end of the day, Naomi Campbell really is just like us: Anxious about the world and taking over-the-top precautions to make herself feel better. At least she’s not hoarding six months’ worth of toilet paper. As far as we know.
