"Nasty Baby" Delivers Kristen Wiig, A Gay Couple, And Weirdness

But what is it about?

Trailers are a tricky business. Give away too much and you risk spoiling the film, but you want audiences to get some idea of what they're in for.

Then there's the trailer for indie festival hit Nasty Baby, which is being billed as a comedy, from its inclusion of Kristen Wiig to its poster.

But from the synopsis, there's a lot of darkness with the light.

A gay couple is trying to have a baby with their best friend (played by Kristen Wiig). Their plans are disrupted by growing harassment from a menacing neighborhood local known as 'The Bishop’. As their clashes become increasingly aggressive, it is only a matter of time before someone gets hurt.

It's difficult to assess the tone of the film from the trailer, which veers wildly from Will & Grace-style banter to tender romantic scenes, to glimpses of violence and blood.

Take a look.

But it did win the Teddy Award for the best LGBT-themed film at the Berlin Film Festival, as well as Best Feature at Outfest, so the buzz is growing.

Nasty Baby will recieve a limited theatrical release in the U.S. on October 23rd, before reaching VOD and iTunes on October 30th.
