Nate Berkus And Fiance Jeremiah Brent In New Banana Republic Ads: PHOTOS

Nate Berkus, decor doyenne and Friend of Oprah, is starring in a new ad campaign for Banana Republic with his fiance, interior designer Jeremiah Brent.

The campaign, now rolling out in major magazines like InStyle and Rolling Stone, features pairs of models who, like Berkus and Brent, are all couples in real life. Trey Laird, chief creative officer at Laird & Partners in New York, which dreamed up the campaign, told the New York Times that the decorator duo was chosen “to reflect our world and how we live in a true, genuine way.”

Laird admits the advertising world can "create messages that sometimes are clever, but often there’s not a lot of reality to them; they feel set up—Letting authenticity be our guide brings a lot of emotion into it.”

Indeed, in the past few months, several high-profile advertisers have all featured members of the LGBT community in their campaigns.  Coca-Cola and Chevrolet—two of the most iconic brands in America—included real-life gay couples in ads that ran during the Super Bowl and Winter Olympics.

“Showcasing true relationships can resonate more deeply,” says Catherine Sadler, Banana Republic's global chief marketing officer.
