Nate Berkus is back on TV doing what he does best—making over homes and transforming drab into fab.

Berkus has been a staple onscreen for years since his first appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2002. This time around he's getting some decorating help from his husband, Jeremmiah Brent, and their two-year old daughter, Poppy.

In the couple's new series, Nate & Jeremiah By Design, the husbands use their eye for design to help other couples who are in need of some serious home renovations.

“It’s a renovation show, but you’re also getting to come into the lives of two gay dads and their family, so that’s a great thing in and of itself,” Brent told People.

In the interview Berkus revealed that Brent might shed a tear or two over the course of the show's season. "I can promise you that he cries almost every episode, whether or not the cameras were rolling.”

The design series is significant because it shows Brent and Berkus not only as designers but also as husbands and fathers.

“You can see that we’re just like you,” said Brent. “We both believe in opening up the doors and letting people know that we love the way you love. We eat dinner the way you eat dinner. Everything about us is the same, and as cliche as the saying is, love is love. That’s exactly what the show is about.”

In addition to his new reality series, Berkus just released his latest line of home goods for Target and he is executive producing a TV series based on Sam Lansky's memoir, The Gilded Razor.

Nate & Jeremiah By Design, premieres April 8 on TLC.
