Neil Milan Announces He's Leaving Clean Bandit

The out violinist said goodbye in an emotional Instagram post today.

English electronic quartet Clean Bandit, best known for their 2014 Grammy Award-winning hit "Rather Be" and this year's "Tears," is officially a trio now that Neil Milan has left the group.

The out pianist and violinist announced his exit from the group in an Instagram post this morning, saying "it was a decision that took me a very long time to reach but it is the right one."

Milan described his last four years traveling the globe with his bandmates as "quite unbelievable," and thanked the fans who managed to change him in immeasurable way.

"Meeting (and tweeting?) you guys has been really so incredible I have learned so much and seen so many things and it will all stay with me forever," he wrote.

"Your support for the music and just for me more generally is one of the most insane and amazing things I have ever experienced."

He added: "I have this little box under my bed where I keep things I have collected along the way, things that people have sent to me, polaroids of me and little mix, and general pieces of touring tat that I can't bring myself to throw away, and it's all spread out on my bed right now making me smile and also cry a little bit."

Milan also thanked a list of people that included Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander, whom he dated for eight months before the couple parted last October.

Milan didn't provide a reason for his departure from Clean Bandit but it appears he and his bandmates are still on good terms.

Today the band posted on Facebook: "We have had a wonderful ride together and we are extremely excited to see what he does next. We are also very much looking forward to our upcoming shows and to sharing our new music with you."
