Neil Patrick Harris Will Host A Variety Show For NBC

Quadruple threat Neil Patrick Harris is having a good year.

In addition to landing the Oscars hosting gig, publishing a choose-your-own-adventure style memoir, and appearing in his all of his naked glory in Gone Girl, Vulture reports that our man NPH will host a U.S. version of Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, a long-running British variety show.

According to Vulture, the production company ITV wanted a 10-episode pickup and got over $2.5 million for each hour-long episode. It seems multiple networks bid for the show with NBC coming out on top.

NPH has been vocal about his desire to host a variety show for many years now, and back in May he spoke to Howard Stern about conversations he had with CBS head honcho Les Moonves about possibly doing a variety show for them.

"As I watched the show, I couldn't stop smiling. Now that I've seen many seasons, my face hurts. It's a game changer,” Harris said. “Nothing like this has been done before, and it's unique structure fits right into my random skill set. I can't wait to roll up my sleeves and have some fun!"

We imagine he's doing a happy dance right now.
