Netflix Gives First Peek At Jane Fonda And Lily Tomlin's New Gay-Tinged Series, "Grace And Frankie"

We've been excited about Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin's new comedy series for Netflix, Grace and Frankie, since we first heard about it.

The show follows two rivals who find themselves reeling after their husbands leave them—for each other.

"I always wanted to do a show about the changes women face as we grow older," Fonda tells People, describing how Grace and Frankie start out "feeling invisible and being ignored."

"These women's worlds are forever changed," she says. "Everything they thought they knew about their lives is over."

They're in good company on the show, with TV veterans Martin Sheen and  Sam Waterston playing their departing spouses. It's like President Bartlett and D.A. Jack McCoy were secretly lovers!

Of course Jane and Lily have a bond of their own, having starred in Nine to Five back in 1980. Jane says shooting the new 13-episode series was "like spending time with a dear old friend."

"People say we have a lot of chemistry together," says Lily. "It's because we've been friends for so many years. It seems like we've known each other always."

Grace and Frankie debuts on Netflix on May 8.
