New Bjork City: Iceland's Eccentric Pop Queen Invades The Big Apple
Bjork is having a serious moment in New York City: Not only is she the subject of an expansive (and somewhat controversial) exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, but the Icelandic pop star is in the middle of a residency at Brooklyn's newly renovated King Theater in support of her new album, Vulnicura.
We sent photographer Santiago Felipe to capture moments from the concert.
Meanwhile, at MoMA, the new Bjork retrospective—featuring videos, audio landscapes, instruments, music, costumes and more—is packing them in.
Critics, however, have been less than impressed: New York magazine’s Jerry Saltz called the exhibition "a discombobulated mess." "This show might have done so many things," wrote The Economist. "Alas, the only thing it reliably does is waste people’s time."
Ouch.
Below, view some highlights from the exhibition, on view through June 7.
