All the Gay (and Gay-Adjacent) Music That Dropped Today

New Charli *and* Perfume Genius? Count us in.

It’s a good day for gay and gay-adjacent musical acts.

Below, find some of our favorite queer-friendly releases from this Friday, May 15, including new tracks from Perfume Genius, Charli XCX, and more. Happy listening!

  1. Girl In Red: “Say It”

The queer indie-pop ingenue has done it yet again with her latest Spotify Single: a cover of Maggie Rogers’ “Say It.” It’s a match made in sonic heaven for Girl In Red’s lush, indie sound. The cover is the latest from the 21-year-old Norwegian singer, who splashed onto the scene with “I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend” in 2018.

  2. Charli XCX: How I’m Feeling Now

The only thing better than a poppers bottle autographed by Charli XCX? A new album from the British pop singer, who’s made quite the name for herself as an ally to her LGBTQ fans. How I’m Feeling Now marks her fifth studio album and her latest release since 2019’s collab-packed Charli. (As a bonus, the “Claws” singer also documented the making of the record in a nine-video saga on YouTube.)

  3. Perfume Genius: Set My Heart On Fire Immediately

Mike Hadreas, a.k.a. Perfume Genius, is an indie rock mainstay, and for good reason: His music routinely defies genres and impresses critics. The out artist also uses his platform to address social issues like LGBTQ equality, immigration reform, and domestic abuse. Set My Heart On Fire is Perfume Genius’s fifth studio album and the follow-up to 2017’s No Shape, which brought us fan-favorite tracks like “Slip Away” and “Otherside.”

  4. Katy Perry: “Daisies”

Another day, another single from Katy Perry. The pop singer and LGBTQ ally has dropped a string of one-off tracks since 2019’s “Never Really Over,” which never got the justice it deserved, but we’ll digress. Watch the majestic, nature-filled music video for “Daisies” for a glimpse at Perry’s baby bump. Aww!

  5. Lucy Spraggan: “All The Things She Said”

The British singer-songwriter and X Factor U.K. alum is giving the lesbians everything they want with this slowed-down cover of “All The Things She Said,” an iconic early-aughties pop song from the Russian girl group t.A.T.u. Gay rights!
