New James Bond Movie Called "Spectre," With Christoph Waltz, Andrew Scott Confirmed

The official name of the upcoming 24th James Bond movie is a throwback to one of the earliest villains in the spy series: Spectre.

At a press conference announcing the start of production, Skyfall director Sam Mendes confirmed the title, as well as some new cast announcements: Joining a returning Daniel Craig is Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista as Mister Hinx, openly gay actor Andrew Scott (Jim Moriarty on Sherlock) as Denby and Christoph Waltz as Oberhauser.  (Waltz was originally rumored to be playing Ernst Blofeld, a frequent 007 arch-villain in earlier Bond books and movies.)

Also joining the cast are two new Bond girls, The Matrix's Monica Bellucci and Inglourious Basterds' Lea Seydoux. Bellucci is actually breaking new ground: At 50, she's the first Bond girl who's older than 007 himself. (Craig is 46 years old.)

And the essential 007 support team is returning, as well—including out actor Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny and Rory Kinnear as MI6 honcho Bill Tanner. Ralph Fiennes has stepped in to replace Judi Dench as M.

But what's the movie about—besides the global terrorist organization that has frustrated our sexy super-spy again and again?

Here's the official press synopsis: "A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre."

Clearly, they've forgotten the most essential information: Who is gonna sing the theme song?
