Happiness Of The Day -- New 'Jem' Dolls Will Be Released
If you were a child of the '80s (or a particularly astute pop culture addict the way we are) then you're probably familiar with the wonderful world of Jem. Jem was the first rocker with a double life, way before that Hannah Montana bitch was even a glimmer in her mama's eye. Jem promised to be truly, truly, truly outrageous, and followed through with crazy pink hair and way up to there mini-skirts. Plus, she had the most radical arch-enemies ever -- The Misfits -- an equally wild and big-haired all-girl rock band.
At long last, Jem is getting her due. A series of Jem dolls has been reissued and will be available at Holt Renfrew stores across the country. But OMG they won't come cheap: Dolls will retail for $125. But hello, you'll need all four -- Jem, her alter ego Jerrica Benton, the holographic computer Synergy, and her boyfriend Rio Pacheco -- in all their amazing '80s glory.
And if you can't get your hands on these dolls, well, enjoy a little Jiz anyway.
Julie Gerstein is also truly, truly, truly outrageous. Follow her at @havethehabit.
