Swedish sensation Robyn will be
headlining the live musical performance at Logo’s fourth annual NewNowNext
Awards along with one of AfterElton’s 11 Artists to Look
Out For in 2011 singer Wynter Gordon

recently, Oh Land. Both Wynter
Gordon and Oh Land are up for Brink
of Fame Music Artist award at this year’s show. The full list of nominees
can be viewed here.
The NewNowNext Awards musical

coming years. Most notably Lady Gaga
made her first
televised performance at the show in 2008.

Ones, Up Close and Personal Tour to North America performing her 35 number
one hits in 35 global cities. Fans were able to submit suggestions as to which
cities to be selected on the tour. Find out if your city made the list here.
Each show on this tour will be
uniquely different than the others and the venues selected offer the ability
for fans to get up close and personal with the legend.
In each city along her tour
Janet wants to meet 20 young leaders under 20 who are changing their
communities for the better. You can submit an entry on janetjackson.com. These lucky winners
will get VIP guest backstage access to interact with Janet.
When the devastating earthquake
and tsunami hit Japan on March 11th, singer Cyndi Lauper had been touring Japan for her Grammy-nominated album
Memphis Blues. Though urged to
leave, Lauper and her band decided to stay and offer support through the one
way they know best: music.
By continuing her Memphis Blues tour, Lauper has been
offering 90 minutes of distraction and a chance to unite, while also collecting
cash and donating all the royalties from her tour in Japan to the Japanese Red
Cross. She also recorded a ringtone with 100 percent of the proceeds going
towards the victims of the disaster.
NEW ALBUMS
MARCH 28th
Britney Spears –Femme Fatale
On Spears’ seventh studio album the artist aimed to release songs that
sound like nothing else out there right now and that she did. With hits like
“Hold It Against Me” and “Till The World Ends,” Spears is already on track to
produce yet another chart topping album for the star.
Radiohead – King of Limbs
The English alternative rock
band is releasing their eighth studio album in physical CD format on March 28th.
(It was self-released in MP3 format in Feb 2011.) The album, whose name refers
to a 1,000 year old oak tree, takes a more haunting somber direction than their
previous critically acclaimed In Rainbows
album.
Peter Bjorn and John – Gimme Some
The Swedish indie rock band
unofficially abbreviated PB&J and best known for their 2006 hit single
“Young Folks” release their sixth album with the lead single “Second Chance.”
Grab a free copy of the hit “Breaker Breaker” off their new album right here.
The Sounds – Something to Die For
Another Swedish Indie rock band,
The Sounds formed in 1999 and their
style has been compared to Blondie
and The Cars. The lead single “Something To Die For” has
a bit of a Kelly Clarkson feel to
it.
The Pains of Being Pure At Heart-
The New York City-based indie
pop band release their second album a follow up from their widely adored self
titled debut. The single “Belong” is similar to some of Smashing Pumpkin’s best and the release of their album will be
followed by a national tour alongside Twin
Shadow.
Matt Duke – One Day Die
The man behind the gorgeous
track “Rabbit” is
following up his exceptional sophomore album Kingdom Underground with a brand new album of 11 tracks inspired by
a dark time in the artist’s life after suffering from a serious hand injury
that made the artist put down his guitar for an indefinite time.
The Kills
APRIL 5th
The Kills – Blood Pressures
The rock band formed by American
singer Alison Mosshart and British
guitarist Jamie Hince, release their
fourth studio album, and their most accessible to date. Since the release of
their critically acclaimed third album Midnight
Bloom, Mosshart toured the road with The
Dead Weather and Hince recently got engaged to Kate Moss. It’s no shock that their latest album is an evolution
from their prior. Grab a free copy of the track “DNA” on the band’s website. Watch the video for the lead
single “Satellite” here.
The Raveonettes – Raven In the Grave
The Danish indie rock duo whose
50’s and 60’s rock sound oft gets compared to The Velvet Underground, release their fifth studio album on April 5th,
a day earlier than the rest of the music world. Watch the video for their track
“Last Dance” here.
The Submarines – Love Notes/Letter Bombs
The Indie pop group from Los
Angeles consisting of John Dratonetti
and Blake Hazard, the great
granddaughter of F. Scott Fitzgerald
release their third full length album, one they say was admittedly hard to
make.

Avicii Presents : Strictly Miami
Swedish DJ/Producer Tim Bergling known professionally as Tim Berg and Avicii is one of the most talked about and brightest new stars on
the dance music scene. Personally I fell in love with his remix of Robyn’s “Hang With Me.” Avicii has been
signed on to mix and select the next Strictly
Miami compilation album, featuring both new and old tracks from the
Strictly Rhythm catalogue along with some Avicii’s own tracks.
Tiesto – Club Life, Vol 1 Las Vegas
Dutch DJ and record producer Tijs Michiel Verwerst, otherwise known
as Tiësto, releases his latest compilation album featuring 15 of the
hottest new tracks and remixes on the market by artists such as Tiësto himself as well as other big
names like Kaskade, Diplo and Hardwell.
Glasvegas– Euphoric /// Heartbreak \\\
Scottish alt rock band from
Glasgow release the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut self-titled
album that reached No 2 on the UK album charts. Judging by this album teaser here
it looks like it’s gonna be one hell of an album!
SINGLES
Neon Hitch “Get Over U”
British singer/songwriter Neon Hitch recently signed to Warner
Bros. Records and though she has not yet begun to record her debut album, she
has the title picked out “Beg, Borrow, and Steal” which she says she has done
all three to get where she is today. Check out her first single “Get
Over U” off her highly anticipated debut album executive produced by Benny Blanco (think Ke$ha, Katy Perry, and Britney
Spears).
New Robyn!
The Teddy Bears have re-released one of their hits with Swedish
singer Robyn on board vocally this
go round. Take a listen to the hit here. I’ve got to say
while it’s always good to hear new Robyn material, I don’t instantly love this
track like I have with some of her other material. What are your thoughts?
Jamie Woon – “Night Air”
The next big artist to take over
the underground electronic dubstep genre that’s sweeping across England and
ruling the blogosphere ever since Jamie
XX of the XX and James Blake so perfectly paved the road
is the talented Jamie Woon. The
British singer/songwriter who ranked fourth on the BBC’s Sound of 2011 poll has
released the single “Night Air” off his Wayfaring
Stranger EP and it’s hard to not love. Take a listen.
Gypsy & The Cat– “Time To Wander”
Not since Young The Giant have I fallen so instantly in love with the sound
of a brand new band as much as I have with the Melbourne electro-pop duo Gypsy & The Cat. Their lead single
off their debut album Gilgamesh is
“Time To Wander” and boy is it a head sticker… aka gets stuck in yo’ head. Take
a listen here
and stream their entire new album. It’s great!
Clare Maguire – “The Last Dance (Chase & Status Remix)”
If you’re a fan of Stevie Nicks or Annie Lennox then you’re going to love Clare Maguire. The latest single off the English singer/songwriter
incredible debut album Light After Dark
is “The Last Dance,” and this remix
by Chase & Status is perfecto.
If you haven’t taken the time to get a copy
of Maguire’s new album go ahead and do so. She ranked number 5 on the BBC’s
Sound of 2011 poll and after taking a listen to her album, I can easily
understand why everyone has been singing her praises.
VIDEOS
Cazwell (center)
Cazwell is back
with another video filled with shirtless men and loads of butt crack. The song
it taken from the singer’s sophomore studio album Watch My Mouth and the video was directed by Marco Ovando, who also directed Cazwell’s hit “Ice Cream Truck.”
Check it out!
LCD Soundsystem
has once again joined forces with the Muppets
on their latest track “Dance Yrself Clean” off their critically acclaimed and
possibly final album This Is Happening
Now. (The first Muppet collaboration was on “New York, I Love You but
You’re Bringing Me Down”). The fan-made video features Kermit, Animal, Cookie
Monster and Miss Piggy jamming as the band for a street full of people in
England.
George Michael
debuted the
video for a robotic cover of New
Order’s “True Faith” during a Comic Relief spoof in the UK this past week.
It seems this is just the beginning of new material from the
British singer/songwriter. He already has a second single in the works, which
he announced via Twitter on March 24:
“Hey everyone two things to titillate the loyal, just
finished new single, Produced with @stereogamous… called Every Other Lover In
The World, Full on house track, hope u are all ready…”
I think we’re ready.
