Welcome back New Music Mix readers! The year 2012 is already a month in and boy do we have some big previews and news about highly anticipated projects due out this year. Madonna is making a splash: from her recent W.E. promotional push to her highly anticipated performance at this year’s Super Bowl. And it sounds like her forthcoming M.D.N.A. might be the comeback album we’ve all been waiting for.
More on Madonna in a sec, but first, Miike Snow’s upcoming album Happy To You is set to be released on March 27th, and the Swedish boys behind Britney Spears’ megahit “Toxic” are already pouring out the singles from their sophomore release with the tracks “Black Tin Box” (featuring Lykke Li), “Paddling Out” and “Devil’s Work” all up on the band’s soundcloud. Take a listen to “Paddling Out” to get a taste:
The band will be hitting the road in support of the album and the tour kicks off at SXSW in March.

Another artist with a March 2012 album in the works is New Zealand singer/songwriter Ladyhawke. “Black, White & Blue” is the first single off the artist’s forthcoming sophomore album Anxiety.
The artist mentioned that her sound would be very different from her self-titled 2008 debut, but from what we can tell so far it’s still equal in quality and distinctiveness. Take a listen:
Be sure to catch her on 2012 Tour:

Florence recently sat down with Lykke Li at Austin City Limits to record the following episodes which aired on PBS over the weekend.
Check them out:
Amidst rumors of a performance with Madonna at this weekend’s Super Bowl, M.I.A. has released a new track “Bad Girls” off her forthcoming album due this summer.
While we’re on the topic of M.I.A. and her Madgesty, be sure to check out their behind the scenes footage while the two ladies are in the studio with French producer Martin Solveig working on Madonna’s latest single “Give Me All Your Luvin’” off her forthcoming album M.D.N.A.
Both the single and video are due for release this Friday Feb 3rd in advance of M’s performance at the Super Bowl. Here’s the just-released album artwork…
Feist premiered the video for “The Bad in Each Other.” her latest single off her 2011 album Metals.
The artist posted the song along with the following message on her facebook page:
“This video captures glimpses of something human, we get a peek inside something real between people – could be loss, longing and love. A lot of things which is about being a human being….
It is told in a way where it opens up more aspects than it concludes.
Maybe something we can’t grasp, but it points at it or touches it and
leaves us with different kinds of emotions.
You could think about the video like a song or a poem, and different
people will connect to different things- and those connections might
be different from time to time when they watch it”
In celebration of Kylie Minogue’s 25th Year in the Music Business the artist is re-recording orchestral and acoustic versions of her classic tracks at London’s Abbey Road Studios. The full list of tracks is still a secret, to be revealed on the date of release, but for now check out the first track to make the official re-recorded edition: “Finer Things”…
For comparison, see Kylie’s “Finer Things” original.
