Forget Mardi Gras—New Orleans' Easter Parade Is Gay As Hell

The French Quarter was clearly the place to be on Easter Sunday.

If you only make plans to visit New Orleans during Mardi Gras, then you may be missing out on one of the city's gayest celebrations of the year.

The French Quarter's annual Gay Easter Parade rivals Pride celebrations across the globe, with its colorful costumes, vibrant parties and eccentric participants.

Although it's slightly more tame and family-friendly than Mardi Gras, Sunday's Easter celebration, now in its 18th year, was still a sight to behold. Even the cops got in on the fun, with one playfully spanking a street performer as he rode by on his motorcycle.

Browse through some photos of the event below to see if you get the itch to attend next year's NOLA festivities.
