Peppermint Is Returning to the New York Stage
Get ready to put a little Pep in your step!
New York City Gay Men’s Chorus has announced that Peppermint, RuPaul's Drag Race Season 9 runner-up, will be joining the group as its special guest at the 11th annual Big Gay Sing, the chorus' yearly sing-along extravaganza.
This year's sing-along theme is Big Gay Body & Soul, which will pay tribute to the contributions of black artists from gospel, jazz, pop, and more. The song selections will include an homage to Aretha Franklin, plus hits from artists including Beyoncé, The Temptations, Rihanna, Stevie Wonder, and Janet Jackson.
Peppermint made theater history in 2018 when she joined the cast of Head Over Heels and became the first openly trans woman to originate a principal role on Broadway. The jukebox musical featuring the music of the Go-Go’s ended its run on January 6, 2019, following 188 regular performances and 37 previews.
This year's Big Gay Sing will be performed March 22–24 at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.
