New York Gym Offering Naked Workouts In The New Year

Exercising in the nude “brings with it a range of fitness and health benefits,” says trainer Harry Hanson, “and it allows our members to have a little cheeky fun in the process!”

Last year, we reported on a South African gym that allowed members to work out naked. That story turned out to be a hoax, but a fitness center here in the States is making it a reality: New York’s Hanson Fitness is kicking off the new year with nude workouts starting January 5.

The plan is to offer three au naturel group training sessions a week—one for men, one for women and one that’s co-ed.
The studio, which counts celebrities like Rihanna and Tom Cruise among its clients, says the class will be a “total body” workout (no pun intended), using your body weight as resistance to blast your glutes, legs, core, and more.

“Our approach makes sure our members get and stay in the absolute best shape, and our new naked personal fitness sessions are no exception,” studio owner Harry Hanson told the Daily News. “[It] brings with it a range of fitness and health benefits and allows our members to have a little cheeky fun in the process!”

Hanson insists working out in the buff increases range of motion, body awareness, and endorphins, and keeps you cooler while you work up a sweat.

If you’re on the shy side, flesh-colored underwear is permitted—but where’s the fun in that?
