"Gayby" Duo Matthew Wilkas And Jenn Harris Reunite In "New York Is Dead"

The Funny or Die web series is directed by "Queer as Folk" star Randy Harrison.

A darkly comic new web series is bringing the death to Funny or Die.

New York Is Dead stars Matthew Wilkas and Jenn Harris as gay sculptor Felix and straight performance artist Cathy, struggling New Yorkers who somehow stumble into a career as hired hitmen. The Kickstarter-funded project reunites the longtime friends, who co-starred in the 2012 cult film Gayby.

The first two episodes of the six-episode season premiered Friday on Funny or Die, and the remaining episodes will post on the next four Tuesdays.

New York Is Dead, which premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, marks the directorial debut of Queer as Folk star Randy Harrison, who also appears in the series.

Other guest stars include John Early, Jemima Kirke, Ana Gasteyer, Bebe Neuwirth, Cole Escola, Jeff Hiller, Maulik Pancholy, Diana Oh, and Jonathan Lisecki.

Also look for a cameo from Wilkas' longtime boyfriend, Olympic freeskier Gus Kenworthy.

“New York is an absurd, beautiful and impossible place where everyone is fighting for their piece of space,” Wilkas tells HuffPost. “Jenn and I have never killed anyone, of course, but we have, in our individual ways, experienced struggle. As important as art and creativity is to New York, it doesn’t really make life easy for its artists.”
