NewNowNext Music: Get To Know Gordon Voidwell

After several months of grueling research, late-night shows, and weekends spent clicking through [enter music blog name here], I've come to the conclusion that New York cool is on a different level. Let me clarify. Being a native New Yorker is something very few indie artists can claim. The style, attitude, and -- as some put it -- swag is unique to authentic NYC-ers. So when you meet a musician who is actually from the city, well, it's refreshing to say the least.

Gordon Voidwell is pretty much the epitome on New York cool. The singer/producer, who grew up in the Bronx, has been performing around the city and beyond for quite some time. With a mixtape under his belt, and another  being released February 1st, the dude has been keeping busy by putting out sharp and catchy electro-meets-R&B-meets-so-much-more jams, remixing and producing (he produced a few songs off of Das Racist's Sit Down, Man album), and collabing with famed battle rapper Iron Solomon and hip-hop group Chiddy Bang.

Check out our interview with Mr. Voidwell below. And if you're in the Brooklyn area, come to his MalcolmXXXMcLaren mixtape release party at Glasslands tonight.

With all that said, I'm in the mood for some real Brooklyn pizza.

As if he isn't busy enough making music, GV is also a fashion writer/designer/collaborator. Check out what he has to say about the line Apliiq and his current favorite piece of clothing.
