It’s that time of year again folks: BBQs, pool parties, beach time—and shiny new summer singles.  This year, a host of ingenues (some fresh-faced, some not so much) have lined up to claim a coveted position in your summer playlists.  From Disney veterans like Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato to X Factor starlets like Little Mix and Fifth Harmony, these young ladies have shed their television pasts and are out to prove themselves as of pop divas.

Whose team are you on this summer?

Fifth Harmony, "Miss Movin On"

Perhaps the most exciting of the new summer crop is new debut single from X Factor breakout girl group, Fifth Harmony.  The girls have developed a rabid fanbase since their time on the show, and an incredible amount of anticipation for a proper single.  I am happy to say that their first foray into the fray definitely lives up to the hype.  Produced by Toby Gad and co-written by Ali Tamposi, "Miss Movin On" is a serious summer smash.

Victoria Justice, "Gold"

I’ll be going more in-depth on this one next week, but let’s just say that Nickelodeon’s most recent graduate has really slayed it with her first official single.  Produced by The Struts, Peter Thomas and Jay Vice, it’s a glistening, glittery, golden summer jam (see what I did there?) and is more than worthy of a listen—or 30.

Selena Gomez, "Slow Down"

The on-again-off-again apple of Justin Bieber’s eye has enlisted the Cataracts, but to somewhat mixed results.  Selegend sounds half asleep on this second single from upcoming album Stars Dance. But it works, strangely enough—she is, after all, beckoning us to “slow down the song.”

Miley Cyrus, "We Can’t Stop"

The teen-queen supreme has a sick new song—complete with a bizarre but addictive video to accompany it. More than enough reason to warrant a play or two at your next summer soiree.

Demi Lovato, "Made In The USA"

Get your sparklers ready: rumor has it that Christemi Logoddess (#christemilogoddes) is releasing this patriotic power anthem as the second single from her album, Demi, just in time for the Fourth.  This firecracker of a tune is one of my favorites, and will most certainly shine at any Independence Day cookout.

Little Mix, "DNA"

Okay, this isn’t really a new single, but these UK X Factor victors are most certainly teen queens on the rise. Their dubby, electro-pop power anthem is fantastic—and if you missed out on it earlier, you’ll definitely thank me after taking a listen.
