Nexty Winners The Fire and Reason to Rock NYC's Power Ball Tomorrow!
With the help of The Fire and Reason, winners of the Brink of Fame: New Artist at the NewNowNext Awards, the Power Ball, a celebration of the dance music community's commitment to expanding the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include LGBT people, should prove to be a great event. The celebration is run by The Power, an online organizing network dedicated to fighting for LGBT rights.
I'm all for supporting a good cause while partying, especially when there will be $3 Svedka until midnight! Other performers include Mel Merio, Grooveheadz Orchestra, DJ Kevin Graves, and DJ Christopher Just. There's a $5 minimum donation to get in, and will take place at Santos Party House in New York City. Make sure to squeeze it into all your pride partying!
Hot, talented, and supportive of the gay community? I think they're proving exactly why they won the Nexty for best up and coming artist.
See what all the buzz about The Fire and Reason is after the jump!

Morningwood Interview: New Album Coming! Big Performance on NewNowNext Awards Tomorrow!
Morningwood's Chantal Claret and Pedro Yanowitz popped by the studios at VH1 & Logo recently, and we snagged them for an interview as part of a shoot they're doing for an upcoming episode of NewNowNext Music. That'll get aired later this summer, but we couldn't wait to run the interview!
Right now, you can snag a killer remix of Morningwood's "Best of Me" single (which has also been used as the theme to VH1's "Daisy of Love" reality show mess). It's the James Euringer/Mindless Self Indulgence Remix and it's up on Rhapsody. Check it out! And it's also available via iTunes... Go crazy with it!
Maybe that'll keep you sated until M'wood's full-on new (and as yet untitled album) comes out later this year.
Want more? Watch Chantal and the guys rip up the stage during Logo's NewNowNext Awards tomorrow, either on TV on Logo, or right here on this very blog! Or at NewNowNextAwards.com.
Morningwood gets posey at the NewNowNext Awards. From left: New boys Will Tendy & Jonathon Schmidt with Chantal & Pedro. Watch 'em tomorrow night at 9pm on Logo & NewNowNextAwards.com!
Still want more? Find out who/what Morningwood would save in a fire, what the most erotic film they've ever seen is -- and other mad stuff when they answer VH1'S 5 QUESTIONS!
The NewNowNext Awards are Coming! With Celebs and Horny Monsters!
The NewNowNext Awards air this Saturday (June 13th, 9pm) on Logo. It's hosted by RuPaul, you can spot appearances by Lady Gaga & Britney Spears, and you'll also get Vanessa Williams, a few Real Housewives, hot stage stud Cheyenne Jackson, Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen, up-and-coming music stars like Livvi Franc, The Fire and Reason, the Paradiso Girls (who perform and turn it out), hot artists like Eve, Sia and Morningwood, and, well... a whole bunch of delicious people. Paulina Porizkova even is forced to lip-sync for her life!
And the mad red-carpet reporter Mike Diamond can also be glimpsed during the big pre-show (which airs at 8pm); he's certifiable! And amazing. Watch him interview the stars of Avenue Q above, where quizzes them on topics such as f*sting, drug abuse and his love of furry folks.
Below, you can see a spicy little trailer for the show. Watch the whole thing this Saturday night (June 13th) starting at 8pm at NewNowNextAwards.com!
RuPaul Reveals Her Secret to Looking Good on Camera at the NewNowNext Awards
Once again, a new clip has surfaced from this weekend's upcoming NewNowNext Awards, and this time, RuPaul pokes fun at the often-times obnoxious overuse of soft focus on Drag Race. I'm glad she's poking fun at this, because seriously, sometimes I couldn't tell if I was watching RuPaul or Tyra Banks the shot was so fuzzy. Meh, at this point, Tyra practically is a drag queen, so who knows if it was her?
Be sure to check out the the cameo from Season One finalist Rebecca Glasscock in the video as well. The 2009 NewNowNext Awards airs on-air and here online this Saturday, June 13th at 9pm EST.
Paulina Porizkova & Selene Luna Lip-Sync for their Lives at the NewNowNext Awards
How could an awards show that gave Lady Gaga her start in 2008 and is hosted this year by RuPaul be anything less than ridiculous and campy as hell? Well, this year's NewNowNext Awards look to be as outrageous as ever, as seen in the above video. Recently fired Top Model judge and former supermodel Paulina Porizkova battles it out it out with comedian Selene Luna...over a bar stool? I'm not quite sure exactly what's going on in this video, but it's all kinds of bizarre and fun to watch.
I've always been a Paulina fan, and am saddened that she was booted from Top Model. Paulina pokes fun of her firing, so be sure to watch until the very end. It's definitely interesting watching the 7' tall glamazon lip-sync battle with the 3' 10" tall ball of sass that is Selene.
The 2009 NewNowNext Awards airs on-air and here online this Saturday, June 13th at 9pm EST.
The above clip is a spoofy bit of gay Brit-ness! You like?
It was created as a little opening bit of funny stuff for Logo's NewNowNext Awards, which presented Ms. Spears with their annual "Always Next, Forever Now" prize as part of this year's show (which airs on Logo on June 13th). The award went to Janet Jackson last year, and is sort of a lifetime achievement thingy for being a big gay favorite, or extra queer-friendly, or just fierce.
Heyyyyyy, did the best woman win???? She better had.
The big news from last night's NewNowNext Awards taping in NYC? No, it wasn't RuPaul's costume changes (which were HOT). It wasn't Lisa Lampinelli's filthy jokes (which hopefully will make the cut on-air). Okay, it could have been the riveting live perfs from bands like Morningwood, The Fire and Reason, Storm Lee and the Paradiso Girls featuring Eve (although they were all pretty legendary as you'll see...), but that's not what I'm talking about.
It was THE WINNERS!!!!
And since gays suck at keeping secrets, after the jump you can read the full list of who won what! Of course, you still have to tune in on Saturday, June 13th to watch it all unfurl, but for now... We'll share.
[Psssst! There's another hot pic of Ru after the jump, too!]
NewNowNext Awards: Eve, Vanessa Williams, Wendy Williams & More!
The ridiculous hotness of the Williams sistahs, Vanessa & Wendy!
Tonight's NewNowNext Awards were a fun, celeb-packed, musically rawwwwking and gay-tastic hot mess in all the best ways. I think we saw some RuPaul wigged and begowned brilliance, some twistedly brilliant musical performances: Morningwood! The Fire and Reason! And brace yourself for dancing Stormtroopers (Thanks Storm Lee.) and the brilliance of this summer's hot new all-girl act, the Paradiso Girls featuring hip-hop goddess Eve!
All the attendees looked amazing (I have an all-new respect for Wendy Williams and the divine Paulina Porizkova; both big, beautiful and soooooo fun to talk to!) but don't even get me started on how beyond stunning Eve was. Gack! Gorgeousness galore!
Here's a quick pic. More to come!
The lady Eve, flanked by the globally gorgeous Paradiso Girls. Their single "Patron Tequila" is your new summer party anthem. TRUST.
More after the jump... and then still more coming!!!
Tonight the big, barmy 2009 NewNowNext Awards will be throwing down at NYC's Hiro Ballroom. All manner of festive celebs will be on hand such as... Vanessa Williams! The kids from Real World Brooklyn! RuPaul! Ongina! Wendy Williams! Cheyenne Jackson! Some kind of special visits from Britney Spears and Lady Gaga! Sia! Jill Zarin and Bethenny of the Real Housewives of NYC! And more RuPaul!
The show won't air until June 13th, but follow our Twitter feed @logochannel, live from the red carpet (and maybe at the afterparty, if we're still standing!).
We'll be dishing on what Ru is wearing! Who Wendy Williams is pissing off! And who fashionistas Robert Verdi and Christian Siriano are declaring as "fierce!!!"
Also on deck, a prize for the Brink of Fame Actor, which will honor an up-and-coming thespian who we expect to hear a lot more from! And the nominees are a nice bunch! They include Twilight uber-hottie Cam Gigandet (above, and there's one more Cam shot coming), and a bunch more from hot shows like Fringe, True Blood & The L Word, as well as films like Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist & Between Love and Goodbye. Read on! And enjoy the pics!
All this means... Hang on to your hi-tops, this could be the summer of Little Boots! And this coming Monday night (May 18th) she's coming to NYC to do a show at Le Poisson Rouge in the Village, and you can score 2 tickets!
Just be the very, very, very first commenter to post on this blogpost, and you'll win 2 tickets to the show. You must be 21-years-old and there is no purchase necessary. And that's it... First come, first serve!
The winner has to get to the show on their own dime (your 2 free tix will be under your name at Will Call at the venue; doors at 8pm), and be sure to enter your email address when prompted as you comment (it won't be visible to everyone, don't worry), but then you're gold.
Little Boots and her magic horsies are willing you to comment first and WIN!
That's it. Hit it first, you win! And if you don't win, but wanna go here's the show info.
After the jump, the "New in Town" video and a BBC interview!
The Aussie duo Empire of the Sun is up for an ArjanWrites "Best International Crossover" Award as part of this year's lovely NewNowNext Awards. One big reason why is the tune above, "Walking on a Dream," which I hear constantly at my gym. You gotta figure if your song gets played at gyms all over the world, that's kinda huge!
Over at ArjanWrites.com, you can get a super-special download of the a remix of "Walking on a Dream." (That Arjan is sooo nice!) But it's hard to match the sheer crazy over-the-top color of the video. Makeup! Feathers! Japan!
After the jump, the video for Empire of the Sun's "We Are the People" which takes their costumes, eyeliner and crunchy glam to the U.S. Southwest. As dressed up as they wanna get, they're really just nature boys at heart.
At first glance, watching a clip of "homeless" people dancing around Thriller-style seems a bit dubious. Still, I think Boots is somehow mocking the ridiculous artiface of music videos and showbiz (and I do love her little shiny blue dress and bangly gold jewelry). Her tour through dodgy L.A. continues, and it's a twisted, cheeky trip. Plus, the song is hot!

I worship Michael K. and his media-slaying madness over at DListed, which is just about the funniest, most evil/brilliant blog spewing forth these days, if not ever. And that's why (along with the divinely fab PinkIsTheNewBlog and the killer music site, ArjanWrites.com) that I'm stoked that DListed is lending a sliver of its genius to this year's NewNowNext Awards (on Logo, June 13th).
Click above to vote for your favorite tragic/amazing mess in the running for DListed's "Feel This Bitch" Award. Basically, it's a call to action to lend your support for whichever pop culture hellion deserves the most love. Is it the mad and fabulous Tammie Brown from RuPaul's Drag Race? Is the real First Lady of Cameroon (who makes Imelda Marcos seem tame and frumpy)? Is it Real HousewifeKim Zolciak's wig?
Just vote and we'll find out which bitch is feeling your love the most when the show and your voting results for the DListed award debut on Saturday, June 13th at 9pm ET on Logo.
2009 NewNowNext Award Nominees: Presented by Ronnie Kroell and Bianca Del Rio! With Pizza!
Oh Hell! It's time once again for the NewNowNext Awards, 2009 style!!! Yep, coming soon to Logo is the f*cked-up, freaky and fab awards show that doles out honors to the best new, rising talent on your TV, movie screens, iPhones and anywhere else you consume your messy pop treats!
And in a loopy video announcing the nominees, it's Make-Me-a-Supermodel hottie Ronnie Kroell and NYC's own drag hellion Bianca Del Rio! Damn, now I'm craving some pepperoni!
Watch the above clip, and expect to hear the buzz begin around such nominees as True Blood, RuPaul's Drag Race, Clementine Ford, Ladyhawke, Sam Sparro, the Real Housewives, Lykke Li, James Franco, Bruno, New Moon and other festive stuff!
And yes, as was already announced, RuPaul will be hosting this madness that airs on Logo on Saturday, June 13 at 9pm ET. You can also watch it on LogoOnline. And go to NewNowNextAwards.com to get the full list of nominees. You can even VOTE for your faves!
Look for extra-special NewNowNext Award categories to be popping up soon on DListed, Pink Is the New Blog and the fab music blog ArjanWrites.com, too. They've got their own special NewNowNext Awards coming at you, too.
Now, how do I order up a piping hot Ronnie for myself?
Everyone's favorite drag queen, RuPaul, will host the 2009 NewNowNext Awards, which will air on Logo June 13. The second annual pop culture awards show with the LGBT slant will be held at the Hiro Ballroom of the Maritime Hotel in NYC on May 20.
Additional presenters, guests and performers will be announced as they're confirmed. But there are loads of surprises in store. After all, last year's awards featured Lady GaGa's very first television performance, and we all know how her career turned out (now you, too, will have "Pokerface" in your head all day, right?). Besides, we're not called NewNowNext for nothing.
Be sure to tune in on June 13 to find out who wins the awards for Brink of Fame: Music Artist, Most Guiltiest Pleasure and Best Show You're Not Watching, as well as many more.
Yes, yes, since I interviewed her and stalked her at gay bars for that one weekend, I haven't shut up about Lady GaGa, but MTV.com posted a new feature on and video interview with GaGa that's worth your time for the following reasons: GaGa's backup dancers never break from their high-fashion poses during the entire interview; also you'll hear snippets of other The Fame tracks besides "Just Dance" - including my favorite "Paparazzi."
Umm ... I guess the other reason you should watch this is to see how awkward Kim Stolz is. By the way, Kim Stolz, I was there on that rooftop with you, and I totally saw you eating edamame and texting. Mhmmm!
And watch Lady GaGa's "Just Dance" music video - along with her performance at The NewNowNext Awards - after the jump...
Alex scored a backstage pass to the NewNowNext Awards, and despite a wicked hangover the next day, your fearless Homophone and his task-master producer Lee take you behind the scenes for exclusive clips, scandalous pics, and special interviews with Candis Cayne, Derek Nicoletto, Deepa Soul, Adam Barta, and more!
The day after thieving Michelle Williams' latest CD, harassing Janet Jackson via satellite, and catching the Dazzle Dancers in some truly compromising poses, Alex wakes up with Lady GaGa's stiletto in his bed, and the memories come flooding back.
Watch The NewNowNext Awards ... Now With Sassy Commentary!
Two gays are about to rip LOGO and its little awards show a new one ... so if that sounds fun to you - and it is, you have to watch it; half the time, it has nothing to do with the show - invest in watching The NewNowNext Awards again, this time with commentary from Big Gay Sketch Show star Stephen Guarino and comedian Mimi Gonzalez ... who may or may not have known each other before this?
Well, to give you an idea of the discussion: Cyndi Lauper took $50 to show up, Colman is actually 58 and Tina Fey looks good as a gay boy.
Wanting More? Watch the NewNowNext Awards Post-Show!
Hey NewNowNext Awards-watchers! Since the entire mega-show is posted right below, now it's time for some bonus footage goodness! Funny lady Gloria Bigelow grabbed a camera crew and charged backstage during the big awards show event, and she's got interviews will all kinds of celebs who were there. Like rocker Eric Himan, actress Michelle Paradise, the cast of the online lesbian spoof-tastic series "3 Way," hostess Candis Cayne, singer Ari Gold and comic Scott Ryan.
After the jump, watch Gloria get dishy at the Awards Show after-party with the boys from Project Runway (Jack Mack & Kevin!), hot electro-disco hellion Lady Gaga, rapper Cazwell and other hot messes.
And you didn't even have to leave your computer. That's right, you can watch the entire - and first-ever! - NewNowNext Awards from beginning-to-end right now...
The show continues after the jump - and co-hosts Candis Cayne and Big Gay Sketch Show's Colman Domingo start things off right with an ultra-fierce dance-off, which involves stripping, don't worry. ... Followed by appearances/acceptances from the amazing Leona Lewis and Christian Siriano!
And it only gets better! Watch the rest of the show after the jump...
NewNowNext NOISE Vlog: Talking The NewNowNext Awards & After-Party
Mmm, nothing like the morning-after...
John and I filmed this vlog following The NewNowNext Awards taping, and even though we were a little, um, tired, we had so much to dish on! Topics include our most memorable gay celeb interviews of the evening,
as well as our favorite moments from the show itself -
think deep-throating - and from the after-party - think nudity.
NewNowNext Award Preview: With Colton Ford & Project Runway-ers!
It's almost here! The NewNowNext Awards airs tomorrow night, and I'm still looking back with fondness on the big, incredibly-gay night. So, to give you guys a little taste, I've posted clips of red carpet-ish chats I had with some of the evening's major gay players.
I had actually talked to mega-porn star-turned-musician Colton Ford before - he didn't remember, but that's fine - but I still got so nervous ... as you may be able to tell. I'm familiar with both of his repertoires; maybe I was star struck...
And after the jump, catch Project Runway contestants Jack Mackenroth and lone straight man Kevin Christiana...
Eric Himan got a Nexty nom in the Brink of Fame: Music Artist category, and I have to say, he is someone who I could see being more popular than he currently is. I like his kind-of squeaky voice, and I like that he always keeps his music videos extra-gay. The last Eric video I saw "There's Gotta Be Something" chronicled a gay relationship, and this new one, from his Resonate album, follows a gay - well, not explicitly gay - teenager ... probably his younger self.
I still have some ish, though: The song's a little sappy, so I'd prefer a video that wasn't so literal and sentimental. I mean, the troubled teen's disapproving parents holding up his test with a big red F on it and then tearing up his sheet music? ...That's just ridiculous, Eric. Music is not your future!
The Brink of Fame Music Artists of The NewNowNext Awards
Our little countdown to the first ever NewNowNext Awards this Saturday continues with music videos from five gay Brink of Fame-ers. Yup, this category is keeping it queer - we still love you, Leona Lewis - and now's your chance to catch up on the LOGO favorites before our big night.
First up is Brooklyn musician Chris Garneau ... and if you're not a morning person, Chris'll be right there with you! Kidding... You'll enjoy the dark, whisper-y "Relief" from Chris's debut album, Music for Tourists.
But who will win? Who else is left? ... Check it all out after the jump...
Check out The NewNowNext Awards "Next International Crossover" Nominees
Yes, the NewNowNext Awards and this blog are somewhat affiliated, but even I'll say you can't just go around calling people the next Kylie Minogue. Not amongst gays. However, some of LOGO's nominees for its Next International Crossover a.k.a. The Kylie Award category are actually pretty deserving...
The committee for the first ever NewNowNext Awards - which airs Saturday at 9 p.m. - considered soulful Welsh singer Duffyfor this category, and while "Mercy" and "Your Disco Needs You" are hard to compare side-by-side, Duffy is talented and unique and the gays love her, so I'm down with the choice.
Check out the other Kylie nominees - and the committee's pick - after the jump...
NewNowNext NOISE: Chester French Interview: They Want a Nexty!
Ready to meet Chester French, the group whose single "She Loves Everybody" comes in a case that looks like a giant condom wrapper? Well then, check out our exclusive: Chester is down with its gay fans, and, yeah, one of its guys is a little more chatty than other...
I remember Radar put Chester in its The Quad Squad alongside other buzz-y, college bands such as Vampire Weekend and MGMT, but these two have backing from Pharrell and his label, and, as you may know, the ultra-prestigious NewNowNext Awards committee nominated Chester French for Brink of Fame: Song.
You know we're all about that, but go hear "She Loves Everybody" via Chester French's MySpace and judge for yourself.

The NewNowNext Awards: First Batch of Winners Revealed!
NewNowNext Awards co-hosts Candis Cayne and Colman Domingo
Last night in NYC Logo held a big shindig taping of the on-air portion of its first ever NewNowNext Awards. It was major. And really gay! (duh...)
Candis Cayne and Colman Domingo (of Logo's Big Gay Sketch Show genius-ness) co-hosted, and bucketloads of queer and queer-loving talent was on hand: Leona Lewis (gorgeous!), Cyndi Lauper, Christian Siriano, Wilson Cruz, Caroline Rhea, some women from The L Word, musicians like Lady Gaga, Dangerous Muse, Cazwell, the men of Noah's Arc ... and the Dazzle Dancers and the Planet Unicorn crew!
So as to not keep you in suspense, Logo's releasing all the winners of the prizes (which is a big, heavy-looking glass "N" called the "Nexty") today. The full list is after the jump and includes folks as varied as Tina Fey, the trans-led band The Cliks, the aforementioned Leona Lewis, Candis Cayne and more!!!
Lovely Leona Lewis looking luscious. Love it!
See more pics and the full list of winners after the jump. Hot messes galore!
Lady GaGa Exclusive Interview: Take a Ride on Her Disco Stick!
No doubt she's unfazed - gay groupies and Lady GaGa are like bees and honey - but the New York disco-popstress may be starting to wonder about me. Your intrepid NewNowNext reporter interviewed Lady GaGa last week - yeah, I totally know her; let's not call it "stalking" - and since then I have pretty much tailed GaGa on her New York gay bar performance tour.
And since I've been front-and-center at all of her shows, I'm bestowing upon myself the Queen Bee of The Groupies title. I'm claiming the throne now because LOGO's girl is taking off, and I will be facing some stiff competition soon enough. (And fine, she's only LOGO's girl because she's an official performer for the upcoming NewNowNext Awards, which will feature GaGa's first televised performance.)
Lady GaGa's debut album, The Fame, comes out this summer, and if you haven't heard lead single "Just Dance" by now, umm... stop, drop and watch the video below:
Lady GaGa is shameless disco extravagance in tights, and I testify that her live show is a mix of druggy burlesque and ultra-mod Kylie Minogue (i.e. amazing). Well, that's my take, of course; GaGa describes herself as 'Freddie Mercury, Boy George and John Lennon in a wig and fishnets at Studio 54.' Getting the flavor yet?
Check out our Q&A with GaGa after the jump: We talked about her transforming from Manhattan Catholic school girl into Lower East Side club fixture of fierceness, in addition to GaGa's pop-culture inspirations and her raunchy music video...
Daily Buzz Bits: Kim Kardashian Gets Serious; The Cast of I Love Money
Democracy. Hope. The Kardashians. The KKK Sisters released a "PSA" against government-sponsored rape and other atrocities in Burma. ... I know. Remember when Kim went to the Nicole Brown Foundation gala? - Radar
Speaking of just plain wrong: Hugh Hefner said Miley Cyrus, 15-year-old Miley Cyrus, would be a welcome addition to Playboy. - Dlisted
Holy sh*t! I need to keep calm: Vh1's I Love Money is really happening. Happening! My new favorite show already. – Vh1
And check out Arjan's six music nominees for the NewNowNext Awards. I'm a Lady Gaga man, for sure. - ArjanWrites
It's The NewNowNext AWARDS! Check Out the Nominees...
You heard it: Logo will host the first NewNowNext Awards on June 7, honoring gay amazingness in pop-culture, music, books, online, movies ... all sorts of stuff. Candis Cayne will play hostess, along with special guests and performers - including Janet Jackson, y'all!
Watch rapper Cazwell and tranny icon Amanda Lepore at this totally not-fake press conference announcing the nominees. ... But if you're not sitting through that, read the full list after the jump.
