Jeffree Star Interview Exclusive: Talking Lady Gaga, Halloween, Sex & His "Beauty Killer" Album

Media glamazon Jeffree Star is busy these days. Touring and appearing to promote his debut Beauty Killer album, and just basically continue his flame-haired world domination, he cruised through NYC recently, and we stalked him at his record label's office and chatted him up!

The gender-f**ker pop starlet was as outspoken and fabulous as ever (and really nice, too)! Watch our little video chat above as he dished about his love of rough boys, his Halloween plans (catch him at the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval this Saturday night), his thoughts about what Lady Gaga's got between her legs, and how he uses his media fame for good. For now.

Is Jeffree a drag queen? Is he trans? Just an extra-sparkly boy? We'll let him do the talking, thanks. He's best it at, after all.

Sliimy, Sliimy, Sliimy!!! A chant is going up from far and near about the slender and delightful little new pop star-to-be Sliimy. Summer's Last Gasp? A Peek at This Year's Homo-a-Go-Go in San Francisco; Indie Queers Galore!

Yes, summer's pretty much over and we're all bummed. But this coming Sunday, you can experience one last gasp of homo-fueled summertime goodness when Logo's NewNowNext Music airs a special episode, packed with footage and interviews shot out in San Francisco in August, during the very cool and crunchy Homo-a-Go-Go festival.

In what may have been the biggest confab of indie queer artists anywhere (in recent memory, anyway) Homo-a-Go-Go drew the likes of Erase Errata, Girl in a Coma, Katastrophe, Glass Candy, Athens Boys Choir and even contributions from the likes of legends Peaches Christ and Krylon Superstar.

Chris Garneau Interviewed & Acoustic: Talking Fireflies & "El Radio"

Singer & songwriter Chris Garneau sat down recently with us to talk about his new album, "El Radio," a followup to 2007's "Music for Tourists." To record his latest, the NYC-based singer traveled with his friends and bandmates to New Hampshire, and the result is a beautiful mixture of poignant lyrics and fanciful, exquisitely melodic music.

Garneau's new tunes veer from whimsical to melancholy, and "El Radio" marks a departure from being more introspective to covering a wider array of topics. As his label puts it: "Garneau's extensive cast of characters unavoidably comment on the social and political forces that pull us unpredictably through time while rollicking to the rhythms of an organ grinder."

We tracked down Garneau at the Soho apartment of a friend; you'll note the car horns of afternoon traffic on Lafayette street outside. But what you'll love is watching Garneau at a grand piano, doing what he does best.

In the video interview above, Garneau (looking very handsome, by the way) explains everything from the title of his new album, the female influences of his grandmother and the women of Juarez, Mexico, and his decision to shift the focus off of himself for this album. Be sure to also check out his performances here of two songs of the new LP: "Fireflies" (at the end of the interview above, the music begins around 8:40) comes first, then watch and hear the completely gorgeous "Hands on the Radio," below.

Broadway Guy Nick Adams, Interviewed: NewNowNext NOISE!

390x525_HXCover 350x525_NickAdams2xist
Nick on the cover of HX in January 09; and in his skivvies.

Guys and Dolls is in previews on Broadway right now (opening March 1st) and among its big, ballsy cast is hot out actor/dancer Nick Adams. You've seen Nick on the cover of HX and Instinct, in other B'way shows like A Chorus Line (where he allegedly made Mario Lopez jealous of his muscles), and in 2Xist undies ads.

That's all we needed to know for a reason to chat him up! Watch the video interview as Nick talks about the new show, undressing with Mario Lopez, backstage "showmances" and why he's single.

Warning: You'll hear me ask brilliantly probing questions like "So is it weird being an underwear model?" Lord help us all. Thanks, Nick!

The Teenagers Interview With NewNowNext NOISE

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Being a teenager is not a crime! - so says Serena Van der Woodsen ... well, not really. But the boys of synth-y, kind-of-a-joke, kind-of-brilliant French band The Teenagers can dream, can't they? If you aren't familiar with the quirky trio - or with its merch - perhaps you've heard their slyly sexual tunes on Gossip Girl or maybe their thoughts on that poor, clueless "Nicole" on MySpace...

But when the guys were in New York for CMJ, we asked them about their remix of Britney's "Womanizer," their love of Showgirls - listen to "Love No" and you'll hear all about it - and why their humor adds whole new dimensions to their music!

Serenateette

And watch Teenagers' music videos "Love No," "Starlett Johansson" and "Make It Happen" after the jump...

Give Thanks! It's a Val Emmich Interview & Acoustic Performance for NewNowNext NOISE!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Val Emmich is no stranger to this blog. I've posted about him, gushed about his cuteness and recommended his lovely latest album, Little Daggers. So imagine how happy I was to sit next to him and gab away! Thanksgiving came early for me this year! Praise!

Val visited Logo recently and we talked about Ugly Betty, his 30 Rock appearance (which inspired Judah Friedlander's "gay crush"), making music, his novel, and which studly celeb he might turn gay for. Okay, Val's just kidding, but he's more than game to tell us about his occasional guy obsession. Hint: He must be a big fan of Y Tu Mama Tambien and The Science of Sleep.

Val also talked about how he likes to cook. Hmmmm... Is it wrong of me to foster dreams of snarfing on turkey and cranberries through the holidays with Val?

After the jump you can see a totally lovely acoustic version he did right here of his latest, "Get On With It." Plus, I've got you the official video for the tune, too.

Hercules And Love Affair Interview With NewNowNext NOISE

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

I will venture to say Hercules and Love Affair's debut, self-titled album will make many a critic's top albums of '08. And the band's core trio is adorable. You've got (from left to right in the above interview) hot singer Nomi, DJ/producer/main-man Andy Butler (he's partnered, grr!) who's majorly cute in his sweatshirt, and singer/musician/jewelry designer Kim Ann Foxman.

In this chatty clip, the trio discuss the crazy touring life, transitioning from party-throwers and DJs to full-on performers ... and the fascinating question: if H&LA were a food, what would it be? And check out the group's latest video for "You Belong" ...

David Cook Interview With NewNowNext NOISE!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Unless you're a 12-year-old girl who hates "losers who don't shave!!" it's easy to see American Idol 7 winner David Cook is the latest genuine talent to come out of that show. With his cute-rocker image and surprising renditions of Mariah's "Always Be My Baby" and Dolly Parton's "Little Sparrow," David won over the whole country, and undoubtedly his share of gays. The winner kind of has to! Maybe it was that Guitar Hero commercial in his undies...

David's self-titled debut album hit stores this week, and his first single, "Light On," is playing on LOGO's NewNowNext PopLab. (You can also watch it after the jump.) In recent weeks, David's also performed on SNL, as well as for Sen. Hillary Clinton at the '08 Glamour magazine Women of the Year awards.

When David stopped by the MTV studios, we asked him about his music career post-Idol, his love of graphic design and his thoughts on Prop 8.

Friendly Fires Interview With NewNowNext NOISE

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

The brand-new Brit trio - Ed, Edd and Jack of Friendly Fires - was in New York not (too) long ago for that CMJ music bash, and NNN got in a chat with the indie-pop, clank-y, glow-stick-waving, nu-rave band. FF's debut album came out in September, and you can check out videos for its first two singles, "Jump in The Pool" and "Paris," after the jump.

The guys were very proper and sweet and talked about club culture - and about condensing that love into palatable three-minutes tracks - along with gay nights near and dear to their hearts - including one called "Cock Soup" ... !

Oh, Yeah ... It's an Uh Huh Her Exclusive With NewNowNext NOISE!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Last month the indie-pop duo known as Uh Huh Her - consisting of Camila Grey and Leisha Hailey, of L Word fame - stopped by the LOGO offices for fan chats and even an acoustic performance. The pair's first full-length release, Common Reaction, came out in August, so you should probably jump on that dreamy, electro band wagon of theirs ... like we did!

And check our video interview: C & L  discuss "life organization," or lack thereof, and why they're not big on the karaoke. And be sure to watch Uh Huh Her host NewNowNext Music on LOGO this Sunday at midnight.

After the jump, watch two Uh Huh music videos - "Not a Love Song" and "Explode" - and see lots of photos from the video shoot...

NewNowNext NOISE Interview With Lykke Li!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

The Swedes still have their fingers on the pulse of modern pop, don't they? Not just another Robyn or Jens Lekman, though, 22-year-old artsy beauty Lykke Li takes on pop music in her own funky, girl-y, hipster style ... basically perfect for the gay scene. And wouldn't you know it, Lykke concurs, as her Web site's salutation is, 'Hi gals and gays...' Know your audience!

Lykke's debut album, Youth Novels, has already produced buzz-y, out-there videos "I'm Good, I'm Gone" and "Breaking It Up" - and NNN Noise snagged Lykke when she was in NYC for the CMJ music bash ... so check it out. Lykke also just performed at MTVu's Woodies awards show.

NewNowNext NOISE Interview from P-Town Part 2 ... With Film Producer Christine Vachon!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

We're back at the '08 Provincetown Film Festival with another rousing interview with Elizabeth Dahmen - this time Elizabeth takes on award-winning film producer Christine Vachon. Christine's behind such classics as Far From Heaven, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Boys Don't Cry and Velvet Goldmine. (And recent film Gigantic, with Paul Dano and Zooey Deschanel, premiered at the Toronto film festival in September.)

Christine and Elizabeth discuss everything from making queer movies to how the queer media has perceived Christine throughout her career. Enjoy!

NewNowNext NOISE Interview from P-Town... With Jane Lynch!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Coming at you from this year's Provincetown Film Festival (a bit earlier this summer), we bring you a special vlog interview: New York-based comedian/actress Elizabeth Dahmen chats up the legend herself, Jane Lynch!

The out actress has a few movies in the works - including comedies Role Models with Paul Rudd and Spring Breakdown with Parker Posey and Amy Poehler - but there's plenty of other things to discuss - Crocs, being out in Hollywood, Jane's favorite role... and maybe a little L Word. Enjoy!

NewNowNext NOISE Interview: Spencer Product

450x305_spencercameraruff
DJ/producer/party host/electro-magnate/shootist Spencer Product. His first compilation CD, "...Product," is out now.

If you've been out anywhere cool in the last eight or so years in New York City, then the name Spencer Product oughtta be a familiar one. He's the man who, along with legendary DJ Larry Tee, launched the whole Electroclash movement and the freaky/fashionable, influential/arty Williamsburg music scene back in 2001. The club Berliniamsburg played a big role in launching folks like the Scissor Sisters, Fischerspooner and Avenue D, and was a haven for nightlife style-mongers, music mavens and club kids. Justin Bond, Andy Bell, Naomi Campbell--freakin' anybody who was anybody in after-dark NYC trolled through its sweaty envirions.

And ever since, whether hosting club nights around NYC (he presently rocks the Lower East Side every Friday night with Ruff Club at the Annex), or helming gigs for fashion folks like Hedi Slimane or Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney or Anna Sui (or providing soundtracks for their runway shows), Product has been a hot man on the cusp of all things cool.

Music, video and interviews from NewNowNext.com

I went to his Soho apartment to chat him up about his new compilation CD, ...Product -- a buzzy mix of sounds from bands like Bloc Party, Cut Copy, Matt & Kim and A.R.E. Weapons, as well as up-and-comers you haven't heard of yet. We also chatted about parties, New York, fashion and TV. Spencer's super-nice, too. Check out the interview above!

NewNowNext NOISE: A Fashion Week Visit with The Blonds & Danity Kane

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Fashion Week is ovah! But here’s one last video glimpse back at some of the glamour and mess that we found when we took a video camera to the glizty, ritzy, gay-riffic show put on by the downtown NYC design duo, David and Phillipe Blond. The pair (They're a couple! And as they told us, they like SEX!) design trippy, shiny, clubby pieces for the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce, Alicia Keys and Fergie. Their style is very much what would happen if Bob Mackie got kidnapped by a gaggle of diamond-encrusted club-kids at Trannyshack. Yay!

Have a look at the noisy clip! Spot guest stars like Aubrey O’Day and D. Woods from Danity Kane (for reals!), Lady Bunny, fashionista Andre J, Vanessa and Angela Simmons (they’re Run’s kids – from Run’s House – and they’re Russell Simmons nieces), Diddy survivor Laverne Cox, Michael Formika Jones, and other cute folks. And yes, you’ll see The Blonds themselves, with Phillipe Blond working the runway and both of them chatting giddily backstage after the show.

Having fun with The Blonds: D. Woods, Angela Simmons, Amanda Lepore, Aubrey O'Day and Vanessa Simmons. Mercy...

Enjoy, kids!

NewNowNext NOISE: An Interview with The Virgins

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Who loves virgins? Ahem... What I mean is, who loves the NYC-based indie rock/pop band, The Virgins? Gays do! (And astute, indie-loving girls do, too.)

Here’s our cute interview with all four Virgins: lead singer Donald Cumming and his bandmates Wade, Eric and Nick. These guys aren’t gay (that we know of) but they have some serious gay cred. First, they all met when they were getting nude and being photographed by uber-lensman Ryan McGinley (a gay).

Also, Cumming—who’s quite the model/musician/actor/man-about-town also starred as the bad boy in the very sexy and supremely creepy, Sundance-award-winning queer short film Bugcrush, directed by gay photographer/film director Carter Smith (who also helmed The Ruins). Getting all that?

And we’ve said this before, but The Virgins' video for the tune “Private Affair” features a thong-clad guy gyrating, and is an homage to the late-night TV icon Robyn Byrd. Gay, gay, gay!!!

400x270_donaldcummingbugcru

Full-on gay-friendly videos after the jump. And more dish on cute, goofy-toothed Donald Cumming, too!

Robin Thicke Interview With NewNowNext NOISE!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

I think we can all agree Grammy-winner Robin Thicke - son of Growing Pains' Alan, husband of actress Paula Patton - brings some sweet and smooth sounds to the worlds of R&B and new-age soul, which include 2006 ballad "Lost Without U." But I know we can all - fans and non-fans of R&B alike - agree Robin brings enough sexy for everyone's world. Overall consensus: Paula is a lucky woman.

OK, OK - I'm finished. I got the chance to talk with the very nice, very tall singer about his upcoming record and about all the straight female and gay male lust thrown his way ... and, of course, the "love-making music."

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Mr. Thicke's third studio album, Something Else, hits stores in September - and you can watch the video for single number one, "Magic," right here.

NewNowNext NOISE: An Interview with Margaret Cho

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Margaret Cho is coming back to TV in a big, ballsy way starting tonight when her new reality series "The Cho Show" debuts on VH1 at 11pm. (Pssst! It's already gotten a sneak premiere on Logo, and you can watch the entire first episode online now.) The show is sort of a "Her Life on the Cho List," and it's sweet, funny, raw and smart -- just like Margaret.

To celebrate the bawdy brilliance that is the showbiz survivor Cho, we chatted her up when she visited MTV last week. Above, Ms. C discusses her mom (can't you just hear Mother Cho somewhere braying "Mooooraaaaaannn!") who appears on the new show. And Margaret talks about her love/lust for trannies, her husband, her gay co-stars on the show, and why Kim Kardashian's booty can whoop Paris Hilton's boney ass any day of the week.

Plus, Margaret's looking faboo these days. Attagirl!!! This Cho must go on!

Black Kids Interview With NewNowNext NOISE!

Well, with two of those Florida kids, anyway - who've crossed from major blog buzz/obsession to sweet label deals and major gigs, all in the past few months. Lucky for us, Reggie Youngblood and Owen Holmes of the Black Kids talked with NNN about "f*cking with people's heads" thanks to some gender-bendy lyrics, as well as Jacksonville's gayest zip code and dry-humping your prayer partner!

NewNowNext NOISE Interview With American Teen's Hannah Bailey

Nanette Burstein's new documentary, American Teen, which follows five high-school seniors in the small town of Warsaw, Indiana - think 10 months of shooting, 1,200 hours of footage - has already won Sundance's Directing Award, but, as you'll hear, its star Hannah Bailey is still doing the promotional hustle!

A little background: American Teen follows Hannah as "The Rebel," who actually ends up dating "The Heartthrob" before heading west to become a filmmaker. And a newly-coiffed Hannah talks with John Polly about life after the big premiere, gay-ness in Warsaw and why she'll never do a sequel.

Beth Grant Interview for Sordid Lives

And last but not least: John Polly and Beth Grant, a.k.a. the incomparable Aunt Sissy on Sordid Lives: The Series, bond over Southern upbringings - mainly an intricate language of "yoo-hoos."

Beth also discusses her many gay ex-boyfriends, Del Shores, the early years and her racy sex scene on Six Feet Under...

Del Shores Interview for Sordid Lives

Episode two of LOGO's new trailer-trash-tastic series Sordid Lives airs tomorrow night - the conclusion of The Day Tammy Wynette Died, I believe - and to tide you over, we've got an interview with the Sordid Lives creator, writer, director (and probably a few other things) himself, Del Shores.

And this Southern boy talked with us about the real-life inspiration for his characters and even shares a racy story about his partying days with Leslie Jordan...

Bonnie Bedelia Interview for Sordid Lives

As part of our Sordid Lives: The Series interview ... series, today we bring you our one-on-one chat with Bonnie Bedelia a.k.a. mama Latrelle. Hear why Latrelle's hair is Bonnie's character and find out how Bonnie really feels about Rue McClanahan.

In addition, John gets quite the response from Bonnie when he brings up Die Hard director, Renny Harlin...

Brianna Taylor from Real World: Hollywood Interview

Real World: Hollywood has been a rough and weird ride for me, what with all the slurs, blood, death, rehab ... housemates dropping like flies ... but Brianna, the aspiring singer from Philly, was unusual in that she actually seemed cool and actually had some talent (in this season, each cast member "came to Hollywood" to pursue dreams of acting, modeling, TV hosting).

And with her self-titled EP on iTunes and a recent gig in New York, it looks like Brianna Taylor may well survive reality TV and enjoy a career in music. (Check out Brianna's MySpace to hear songs from her debut.) For the record, Brianna's bisexual and has two gay roommates, so it only makes sense she stopped by LOGO to discuss all things music, all things gay and ... a little Real World gossip.

The Ting Tings Interview With NewNowNext NOISE!

When indie-pop duo The Ting Tings stopped by MTV prior to its first headline concert in New York, we got in a quick chat with Katie and Jules to discuss the party-loving roommates' eager concert-goers, as well as dancing on Ting Tings vinyls and Katie's funky fashion sense.

And just FYI, Jules is very sexy in an I-never-take-off-my-Ray-Bans kind of way...

Jesse Brune From Work Out Takes on New York Pride, Hair Removal & Models in Their Underwear

Little gay dreams can come true: Not only did my future/possible/not really boyfriend Jesse Brune from Bravo's Work Out come to the LOGO offices to teach me how to play up my "twink factor" by using Nair for Men products and performing butt-rounding squats, he even snagged the LOGO mic at the New York Pride parade to chat up all his Nair models.

Yes, Jesse is now a hair-removal spokesman and - as Jesse reveals - there's so much more to models than chiseled abs ... sort of.

And after the jump, watch my chat with Jesse in our offices - and sorry for the lack of professionalism on my part, everybody.

For 'The Blaker Boys'? Blake Lewis Interview With NewNowNext NOISE

He may be from a long line of American Idol runners-up - and yes, the record deal the show scored him is finito - but beat-boxing Blake Lewis still puts on a fun and funky show that - let's just say - Ms. Sparks could never pull off. And even though I was greatly outnumbered by Blake-obsessed, underage-looking girls at his Canal Room concert last week, I'm still a big fan of Audio Day Dream's synth-y, '80s sounds - and of the the biceps and tattoos...

Anyway! We snagged Blake in his basement dressing room (it was a little dark, unfortunately) to chat about the gays in his life, his new success on the dance charts and texting in Chris Richardson's lap. Sort of...

Hercules And Love Affair Interview With NewNowNext NOISE!

At Studio B in Brooklyn a few weeks ago, new disco-house group Hercules And Love Affair (follow that link to hear its entire debut album on LOGOonline) was preparing for its first live show - ever! - and John Polly snagged Hercules members and NYC DJs Andy Butler and Kim Ann Foxman for an interview. The pair talked about the gay myth behind Hercules and the group's early-'80s disco sounds, which I'm loving lately...

And here's a picture of Andy in BUTT magazine - Eek! He was a gay porn-loving kid trapped in Denver who moved to New York to do tons of drugs with house-music heads and club freaks ... then released an amazing and ultra-modern album that has critics singing his praises. Good stuff!

Solange Knowles Interview With NewNowNext NOISE

I admitted I had some ideas about Solange Knowles back when I posted her new "I Decided" music video a few days back, but I'm kind of loving her now. Her Motown-gone-funky sound has some real innovation to it ... She's spunky!

Her sophomore album, SolAngel and The Hadley St. Dreams, comes out in August, and Solange spoke with NewNowNext about her electronica influences, her love of Bjork's fashion sense, dancing to Justice until her sandals bust, her decision to include social commentary in her video, gay marriage and writing a "fierce" track for the gay community.

NewNowNext NOISE: Chester French Interview: They Want a Nexty!

Ready to meet Chester French, the group whose single "She Loves Everybody" comes in a case that looks like a giant condom wrapper?  Well then, check out our exclusive: Chester is down with its gay fans, and, yeah, one of its guys is a little more chatty than other...

I remember Radar put Chester in its The Quad Squad alongside other buzz-y, college bands such as Vampire Weekend and MGMT, but these two have backing from Pharrell and his label, and, as you may know, the ultra-prestigious NewNowNext Awards committee nominated Chester French for Brink of Fame: Song.

You know we're all about that, but go hear "She Loves Everybody" via Chester French's MySpace and judge for yourself.

NewNowNext NOISE: Jason Preston Interview! The Drama, The Gossip ... The Tattoos!
