News Mandy Moore Is Returning to Music Is So Real

"I'm not scared anymore."

If you were a teen during the bubblegum pop explosion in 1999, you remember Mandy Moore when she was driving a Volkswagon Beetle and singing about candy. If you read that sentence and scratched your head—the woman from NBC’s This Is Us had some pop jams when you were a kid and she’s ready to make a music comeback.

(And So Real is the title of her debut album in case the headline went over your head.)

On Saturday (June 14), Moore posted a video on Instagram announcing her return to music with a preview of a track she’s working on with Mike Viola (Ryan Adams, Fall Out Boy).

“Getting back to it. It’s time. I miss it,” Moore captioned the post. “I’m not scared anymore. No more excuses. No more allowing someone’s else insecurities to dictate my relationship to music and singing. Boom. Also—this is just a little demo of something @themikeviola and I worked on yesterday…but still, it’s a start! 🎶”

Many fans are pleased to hear the news and replied to the post with encouraging words.

“Grammy nominated 10 second song clip,” exclaimed one follower. “We’ve missed your beautiful voice,” said another.

With Christina Aguilera recently dropping a new album and Britney Spears preparing for a return, all we need now is for Jessica Simpson to reappear and we’ll have our childhood pop princesses back again! Oops, we just revealed our age.
