Nick Jonas And Demi Lovato Cancel North Carolina Shows Over Anti-LGBT Law

"We trust that you will stand united with us against this hateful law."

Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato have joined a growing boycott of North Carolina’s new anti-trans law by canceling upcoming shows in Raleigh and Charlotte.

“One of our goals for the tour has always been to create an atmosphere where every single attendee feels equal, included, and accepted for who they are,” the singers wrote in identical posts on Facebook. “We will not allow this to stop us from continuing to make progress for equality and acceptance.”

Both capped the announcement off with the hashtag #RepealHB2.

Demi and Nick kick off their joint Future Now Tour in Florida on June 24. Their Charlotte and Raleigh dates were scheduled for June 30 and July 2 respectively.

On Monday, legislation aiming to repeal HB 2 and provide funding for a state Human Rights Commission was introduced by four Democratic representatives in the state.

Last month, Nick and Demi attended the GLAAD Media Awards in Manhattan together, where Nick presented Demi with the GLAAD Vanguard Award. Check out her acceptance speech below:
