Nick Jonas Drops New Single "Champagne Problems," An Ode To Hot Breakup Sex

But who is the lucky "they?"

Nick Jonas continues his transition to a more soulful R&B sound with the release of "Champagne Problems," the second single off his upcoming third solo album, Last Year Was Complicated.

"Champagne Problems" describes getting back together with an ex for one last hoorah over a bottle of expensive liquor. It closely follows the release of the album's debut single "Close" feat. Tove Lo in March, which recently got a racy video treatment:

"We got champagne problems," he sings. "Oh my God, the room is spinning from the Pérignon, and you're still with me but you're very gone. It feels so right but we both know it's wrong."

In his Reddit AMA last week, Nick described his inspiration behind the lyrics.

"I started writing the record and then had a breakup that became kind of the main thing that the songwriting was about," he said. "Champagne Problems is a song about sharing a bottle of champagne with my now ex as we were breaking up to kind of close that chapter. It was sad and slightly sweet at the same time. It was a range of emotions and feelings and I think this song, although it sounds like a party song, actually has some of the deepest lyrics on the record."
