A Night With Nick Jonas At 2015 Outfest Los Angeles

Nick Jonas attended a panel at OutFest in Los Angeles Sunday night to discuss his closeted gay character on Kingdom, and wound up fondly remembering the first time he ever saw a gay person in real life.

The 22-year-old former JoBro told the panel, moderated by out vlogger Ryan O’Connell, that his first brush with a gay came at the tender age of eight, when he realized a member of the team working the Jonas Brothers from behind-the-scenes was dating another man.

Nick’s father, a Protestant minister, was on hand to immediately offer some great advice.

He said, “One of my friends who was one of the guys in the show — his name was Mark — was leaving the theater one day and I saw him leave with his partner. I looked at my dad and said, ‘Oh, that’s different,’ and he was like, ‘It’s all love, it’s all the same,’ and it just connected with me immediately.’”

Now turn up the volume and wait for that amazing gay gasp around the 0:28 mark.
