We all nearly lost our shit this week when Nick Jonas posted a scorching shirtless selfie on Instagram. As Nick tells Ryan Seacrest, it wasn't about vanity but about raising awareness for diabetes:

“There’s a lot of people running around without their shirts on these days, so I just didn’t want to add to the noise. But… it’s twice as hard for us diabetics to stay in shape," he said on Seacrest's radio show. "I’ve met a lot of diabetics recently who have come to me and said, ‘Thank you for being so vocal about fitness and health’ because it’s helping them."

Of all the questions, Nick says most people want to know about his technique: ”That was the funniest part of the reaction … people trying to figure out who took it. There’s a self-timer setting on the camera.”

Nick, baby, we totally would have worked the camera for you. And not used that weird filter.

Sadly, Nick got the shot in one take, so there's no extra selfies waiting to be hacked: ”I’m not lying here … it was one picture … I debated [posting] it with my brothers and people in our band. I was like, ‘Should I do this?’ and they were like, ‘You have to!’ So I did it.”

A rep from Calvin Klein promised to send some underwear for his next photoshoot, but Nick said he's not sure if he'd do another topless selfie. If we want to see more of barely dressed Nick Jonas, we're gonna have to check for his body in the upcoming film, Careful What You Wish For.

God help us we're gonna go see that movie.
