Nicki Minaj, Sia, Dan Savage, Michael Urie and Others Reach Out to Gay Youth

The entertainment community is taking note of the recent tragic deaths and suicides of gay youths who've been bullied. And some celebs are speaking out directly to their fans. MTV News is covering the issue, covering the story on the ground at Rutgers, speaking with students there about the death of their classmate Tyler Clementi. And they're talking with Dan Savage about his "It Gets Better" project that seeks to reassure young LGBT people who feel hopeless that they can survive and make it.

And celebs like rapper Nicki Minaj and singer Sia are reaching out, too. Check out both of their videos here. And actor Michael Urie and blogger Perez Hilton are in the mix also.

In her video, Sia talks about her own struggles with her queer identity. "I can now say I'm queer and proud... And that I love you. If you're having a hard time, I've always loved you. And it gets better. You'll learn to love yourself and your specialness."

Let's hope this spirit of activism and awareness fosters some changes in the lives of gay youth out there.
