With the evolution of Nike’s BE TRUE campaign, started in 1985, so fans and athletes had a way to show their support and wear their collegiate colors, comes the 2012 Pride Pack just in time for your city’s Pride shenanigans.
BE TRUE 2012 is celebrating the recent achievements of New York City, San Francisco and Portland as leaders in the development of equality in the LGBT community. This will include the introduction of fresh city-specific shoes, with matching hat & t-shirt.
According to Nike: The Nike BE TRUE Air Royal (pictured) was chosen for their low-profile, trend forward take on court footwear, each model features a mix of premium materials and utilizes a tailored color palette to create a crafted and wearable shoe. Both models are highlighted by their outsoles that feature a vibrant rainbow spectrum that spans from the left to right shoe.
Why We Love These: Let’s face it – it’s not really that cool any more to run around draped in rainbows and body glitter. As the community evolves, so should your Pride attire. They’re the perfect amount of gay; subtle but present. It’s a classic Nike sneaker, mainstream with a hint of metallic and the candy colored gum sole is the right amount of “flair”. Lace up a pair of these bad boys with your favorite shorts that make your ass look great and your new tank top you’ve been saving for next weekend and get yourself ready to day-drink.
The Portland option is available now, the New York City and San Fran models drop on June 22nd and will retail for between $120 and $140.
What city will be next? Would you rock these?
