Nissan Launches Gay-Friendly Ad In Israel

“A family is when you live together and love each other. The rest doesn’t matter."

A new Nissan Sentra ad for Israeli TV is being praised for its inclusion of a same-sex couple and their family.

The ad, which demonstrates the car's versatility by comparing it to the different types of people who may ride in it, centers around an adorable little girl with a British accent.

"Who's to say what a family is?" she asks. "Why not two mommies? Or two daddies?"

"A family is when you live together and love each other. The rest doesn’t matter, as long as you put your family in the center," the girl adds. Her words are punctuated by an announcer who adds, "put your family in the Sentra."

Writing for the Hebrew language site Mako Pride, Israeli reporter Roy Youldous Rosenzweig expressed the importance of brands that recognize the LGBT community.

"Even when you’re already a gay father of two year old twin girls, and know how wonderful a dad and dad family can be, it’s still pleasant to receive a television confirmation that you are not wrong," he wrote.

"Tons of compliments, posts, comments, shares, and thanks to the car company who did the easiest thing for itself and so significant for us. Yes, gay people are moved when you see this stuff."
