Nordstrom "Nails" Pride, Boy Scouts Leading NYC Pride Parade: Today In Gay

 nordstrom

Nordstrom marked Pride Month by posting a photo on Instagram of two women with rainbow-colored nails holding hands. The upscale retail chain has supported LGBT rights for a number of years—in 2012,  Seattle-based Nordstrom supported marriage equality in Washington State.

Last year, the store launched  "The Ultimate Wedding Party,"  a web video that showed same-sex couples celebrating at a wedding reception with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

According to GLAAD, three generations of gay and straight Boy Scouts will present the American flag during the National Anthem and serve as Color Guard during the march.

“We are grateful for this invitation from NYC Pride, and we are honored and humbled to provide this patriotic service to the LGBT community of New York,” said Stacey Sarnicola, of the Brooklyn chapter of Scouts for Equality. “While the BSA voted last year to end the policy barring gay youth from participation, it has made no change in its membership policy regarding adults. The Greater New York Councils' inclusive policy is what gave me permission to allow my son to join the Boy Scouts. It's what gives us permission to march, and it gives us hope for a BSA for all in the near future."

It's unclear if current Scouts who march in the parade will be reprimanded—in the past, members who have done so have been made to sign letters of apology.

Kim Kardashian has done an about face on the boycott of the Beverly Hills Hotel. Last month, the reality star cancelled a bridal shower at the posh venue because its owner, the Sultan of Brunei, called for homosexuals in his country to be stoned to death. But now she says a boycott only hurts the hotel's hardworking staff.

On her blog Kardashian wrote that "for a sultan that has 20 billion dollars, this loss of business doesn’t even make a dent in his fortunes. But the hotel staff are being negatively affected every day with the boycott that has gone on for weeks now."

The newly remarried reality star maintains she supports the global LGBT community but calls for "another solution" to the issue.

patrick maloneyOn Saturday Sean Patrick Maloney, New York State's first openly gay congressman, married Randy Florke, his partner of more than two decades.

“Even after 22 years together, we’re overwhelmed by how blessed we feel to celebrate this special day with our friends and family," said Maloney in a statement. "With our three kids by our side, this couldn’t have been a more perfect day. Thank you to all our friends near and far for their love and support as we continue to fight to ensure all families can experience the joys of a lifetime commitment.”

Florke proposed in December after their youngest daughter wrote Santa asking for her parents to get married.
