Gregg Araki is one of the pioneers of queer cinema, having directed indie classics like The Doom Generation and Mysterious Skin.

In recent years Araki has jumped over to television, directing episodes of Riverdale and Heathers. Now he is behind the trippy new Starz series, Now Apocalypse, which follows four friends—played by Avan Jogia, Kelli Berglund, Beau Mirchoff, and Roxane Mesquida—as they try to make it in the weird world of fame-obsessed L.A.

The trailer for the first season has dropped. Since this is a show created by Araki, prepare for some of his signature elements, including crazy colorful visuals and lots of steamy sex scenes—including one in which Jogia and Tyler Posey's characters share an intergalactic orgasm in an alleyway.

Oh, and did we mention there is a giant human-lizard creature stalking in the shadows? Yup, sounds like L.A.
