For those of you that aren't wrapped in plastic, Twin Peaks fans are still obsessed with David Lynch's creepy serial melodrama. The most devoted shut-ins fans buy Lynch's crazy-strong coffee or attend Twin Peaks Fest in North Bend, Washington. The rest of us make due with our DVD sets (with nav easter eggs!) -- except for lucky New Yorkers who've experienced The Pink Room Burlesque.

Organized by Franny Flüffer Nütter, Pink Room Burlesque has become a glorious melding of titillating creepiness. Gemini Rising's turn as Lil, the dancing message from FBI Agent Gordon Cole to FBI Agent Chester Desmond (where is Chris Isaak now?), was all red sexiness and puckered lips. Amelia Barepart's performance as The Log Lady aroused, especially as she uses her log for more than supernatural secrets. However, the best act is the finale, starring Franny herself as our favorite strung out prom queen, Laura Palmer. Transcending traditional burlesque for something more akin to performance art, Laura's glitter-coke-covered face wears a grimace as she holds her violated diary open and strips to Shep & The Limelites' "Daddy's Home".

Franny's putting on a new burlesque show, Francine's Pink Room, featuring classic jazz, burlesque and mixology on Halloween (this Monday, Oct. 31). Just remember, when you see a girl pucker up, put a dollar in her tailored red dress.
