President Obama signed into law the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” this morning which officially begins the process to remove the policy banning gay and lesbian servicemembers from serving openly in the U.S. Military. But you know all that… Still, it’s pretty fierce yes?
The ceremony was impressive and powerful, and the journalists, activists and legislators in the room at the Department of the Interior cheered. Watch it at CSpan.org now! Or right here:
Obama’s words giving props to gay Americans who have served their country — as fighters and patriots through the war of Independence on through to Gettysburg and World War I and on to the beaches of Normandy and on the fronts of Iraq and Afghanistan — were strong and fabulous to hear. “Your country needs you and your country wants you,” said the Prez, and he reiterated that “all men and women are created equal.”
Thanks, Bam!!! About that “equal” part… Gay marriage, anyone?
Still… A big win in the battle for equality today. Now on to important stuff: Gay Soldiers! Hotness! Will 2011′s A-List gay must-have be a gay marine boyfriend? A sexy lesbian soldier trophy girlfriend?? I’m all for it. Can we start hanging out at USO dances, please? Get this policy enacted. We’ve got a whole new realm of romantic options awaiting us!

Camouflage is the new black! And I can’t wait for the inevitable forthcoming romantic reality competition show: “Dating Private Ryan!!!” Bring it!
Fleet Week 2011 is looking really good.
