Chefs at work in Noma
Friend of NewNowNext (2011 NNN Award winner) and all around sexy Scandinavian Oh Land has just posted her picks for Copenhagen on the new-ish Louis Vuitton site (and iPhone app) called amble. Sadly, her picks are a tad incomplete. As a native of Copenhagen I’d have thought she’d be able to come up with more than the six?! So we’re going to help her out and add a few more…just because the dinner and hotel picks are missing. Cute thing, she’s been living in Brooklyn lately, maybe that explains the oversight.
Still love her. And hope she got a fancy bag or pair of shoes for this piece.
Here are three more to add to her six (making it a Copenhagen NewNowNext 9)…
7. Noma

Adorbable Prince Fredrick
At this point, it’s accepted as fact that eight-year-old Noma is the best restaurant in the world, probably the galaxy. It’s nabbed the top spot for two years running in Restaurant magazine’s ranking of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants and is the recipient of two Michelin stars (non-French restaurants rarely get three stars). I’m betting our gal Oh Land has been there — and probably has a pet name for chef René Redzepi — but unless you’ve got ‘Oh’ or someone from the Danish royal family coming with(too bad about that Crown Prince being happily married), it’s going to be a bitch to get a reservation until like 2015. Fortunately, several other fantastic options recently cropped up, and they’re also well worth the trip to Copenhagen. Four that just got the seal of approval from Departures magazine are considered among the best: Kødbyens Fiskebar, Manfred’s, Radio, and Relæ. A meal at any one of those will set you back a few kroner, but it’ll be something you’ll remember for years.
8. Kong Frederik
Next up, where to stay. Oh Land obvs has friends and family all over the city, so it never occurs to her to come up with a list of hotels. You, on the other hand, probably need to plan for a room unless you’re THAT good at picking people up on planes. This centrally located, affordably chic, gay-friendly hotel with wifi and a roof deck fits the bill for seeing the town and getting back from your late night activities (see next item). If you’re looking to splurge, Amble style, and are waiting to travel until the end of 2012, the regal Hotel D’Angleterre is reopening later this year after a full renovation. And it was one of the best hotels in town before…so that’ll be great.
9. Copenhagen Gay Bar Hop

Does Oh Land hang with entertaining Danish drag queens, dopey twinks and leather daddys? We bet she does. Okay maybe not something she needed to share with the Louis Vuitton crowd, but after a gig or hitting a show at Vega, she heads off for a drink somewhere. And where better than some of the super strange, but extremely friendly gay bars of Copenhagen? First stop is the odd yet amusing Centralhjornet. The clientele may be a little long in the tooth, but they clearly know ther way around an Abba lip-synch number, and that’s all anyone really wants when they go to a nordic bar, right? For a little leather bar action there’s the Tom of Finland-ish (also very elder gay oriented) Men’s Bar which I’m guessing is not an Oh Land pick, but it’s funny there. She should try it. They take leather to a gladiator place, which is…kooky. Lastly, for a night of Danish dancing with the young, cute gays who love her, Oh Land heads to Club Christopher, or maybe she doesn’t. But she should.
And just for fun, let’s rewind to 2011, and take a look at Oh Land’s fantastic performance at the NewNowNext Awards in Hollywood.
