Olympic Moment(s) of the Day: Funky Ads, Sexy Women

BP olympic advertising

Remember that little oil spill in 2010? You know, the biggest oil spill in history that still impacts the environment today? No? Well, good, because British Petroleum’s new ad campaign puts that all behind, apparently. With Olympic stars like Lolo Jones and Bryan Clay in the ads, the company’s brand perception has gone up by 8.5%, beating companies like GE and Holiday Inn. Whatever, petroleum disasters are so yesterday! But that’s not the worst of it…

Other things you may have missed:

  • This is: NBC’s oddly sexual depiction of female athletes. Between the mayor calling them “wet otters” and the beach volleyball players getting a little too much media coverage, can these amazing ladies please be cut some slack? Please?
  • Ryan Lochte jokes about peeing and proves he has a sense of humor which makes him more endearing than previously observed.
  • Aly Raisman tweets about going out on the town with her fellow teammates, which is great because everyone should let loose in a non-gymnast way sometimes!
