Hacker Steals “Orange Is The New Black” Season 5, Demands Ransom

The FBI is reportedly investigating threats made by The Dark Overlord.

Looks like someone’s itching to go to Litchfield.

A hacker who claims to have stolen the upcoming fifth season of the prison-set Netflix drama Orange Is the New Black is demanding that the streaming service pay a ransom or else they will prematurely release all the episodes online, EW reports.

Netflix says in a statement that the company is “aware of the situation,” adding that a “production vendor used by several major TV studios had its security compromised and the appropriate law enforcement authorities are involved.”

Going by the menacing alias The Dark Overlord, the hacker appears to have already uploaded the first episode of OITNB’s fifth season to multiple file-sharing sites. They also claim to have stolen additional unspecified shows from other studios.

The FBI is reportedly participating in the investigation.

Orange Is the New Black season 5, which star Laverne Cox tells E! News will “gag” viewers, is scheduled to start streaming June 9.
