Orange Really Is The New Black As Home Depot Swag Becomes Fashion Trend
The fashion world has descended like vultures on an unlikely target: Home Depot. Apparently shirts and bags from the home-improvement superstore are popping up on "cool kids" all over New York City and Instagram.
Carine Roitfeld, former Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Paris, is milking the trend on CR Fashion Book, where she “puts a twist on wardrobe essentials.” Roifeld styles a disposable painter’s jumpsuit from Home Depot in seven different ways—paired with Courrèges boots and tutus.
Home Depot knows its on trend, saying it's "thrilled" that its items are making their debut in the fashion arena. “We’ve always thought orange was a great color,” a spokesperson added. (Tell that to Netflix. honey )
As for why the utilitarian bags and shirts are red-hot for summer? Maybe it's some kind of anti-fashion statement? Or maybe it's just because Home Depot discontinued its big orange bags. Nothing says style like exclusivity.
