Viewers were unsure what to expect going into last night’s 91st Academy Awards. This year’s telecast had been embroiled in various controversies, from Kevin Hart pulling out as host—leaving the ceremony without an emcee—to the Popular Film Oscar that never was, and threatening to give out awards during the commercial breaks.
When the Oscars finally arrived there were highs and lows like there are every year, with most categories being correctly called. The biggest shocker of the night being Olivia Colman winning Best Actress for The Favourite, over awards circuit favorite, Glenn Close, who many thought would finally get her Oscar, with this being her seventh nomination.

Other highlights included Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s powerful performance of “Shallow,” Spike Lee finally winning a competitive Oscar, and Rami Malek nabbing Best Actor for his portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. Green Book might have took Best Picture, but we all know it was Billy Porter’s sickening red carpet look that really won the night. Scroll through below to see the full list of winners.
