While New York, London and Paris fashion weeks might focus on the more wearable side of fashion, Tokyo Fashion Week takes a decidedly more avant garde approach. Tokyo's always been the place where Western trends get reinterpreted, refashioned and enlarged, and this year's Tokyo Fashion Week is no exception. We've culled through and found some of our favorite cutting edge looks from this year's fashion week. Love them or hate them, you've probably not seen much like them before.

Yasutaka Funakoshi's Fall/Winter 2012 collection for Alice Auaa channeled a goth-ballerina flavor.

Motonari Ono says he was inspired by the experience of meeting several editors at Tokyo's recent Fashion's Night Out. "They showed us lots of energy from their style," he said. "I was so impressed that fashion can change the world."

Designer couple Hiroyuki Horihata and Makiko Sekiguchi's Matohu collection employed a calming color palette and fluid, smooth lines -- heavily influenced by traditional Japanese kimonos.
