Andrew Garfield plays a young man stepping tentatively into a queer identity in the music video for Arcade Fire’s “We Exist.” In the clip, the Amazing Spider-Man star is seen stumbling through the crowds at Coachella wearing a blond wig and dress.

It’s a bold move for the star of a blockbuster franchise, and it turns out Garfield went to trans singer-songwriter Our Lady J for tips on doing the character justice.
