Out Actor Ezra Miller Cast As The Flash In "Justice League" Movie

The latest actor inducted into the ranks of superhero action stars is none other than Ezra Miller, the out star of The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The 22-year-old has been cast as the Flash in Warner Bros. growing roster of features based on DC Comics characters.

Currently Grant Gustin is appearing as the Scarlet Speedster on the CW's freshman series The Flash, but Miller, who came out as queer in a 2012 interview with Out magazine, will take over the role on the big screen—first in 2017's Justice League Part One, and then in his own solo movie the following year.

The CW series has enlisted its own cadre of gays, including Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein, Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold and Andy Mientus as the Pied Piper. Both the Piper and  police detective David Singh are gay in the comic-book universe and TV series. Lets hope either/both make an appearance in the feature film.

Warner Bros. has posted a full slate of upcoming films based on DC Comic characters, include a solo Aquaman movie in 2018 starring Game of Thrones casualty Jason Momoa, and a solo Cyborg feature starring Broadway actor Ray Fisher (Fetch Clay, Make Man). Both actors will reportedly debut in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, directed by Zack Snyder.
