Grammy-Nominated Spanish Singer Pablo Alborán Comes Out as Gay

"I am going to be a little happier than I already am."

Grammy-nominated Spanish pop star Pablo Alborán has come out as gay to his 5.3 million followers on Instagram.

"Today, I want my voice to be louder and for it to have more value and weight. I’m here to tell you that I am homosexual and it’s okay," he said in a video uploaded to Instagram. "Everything will remain the same, but I am going to be a little happier than I already am."

The "Solamente tú" singer went on to say, "I have been lucky enough to been raised at a home where I had the freedom to be who I wanted to be. I hope I can make somebody's journey easier with this message, but above all that, I do this for me."

"I want to be coherent, consistent, 100% true to myself," he added.

Alborán released his self-titled debut album back in 2011. His most recent album, Prometo, was released in 2017, along with the Tabú EP earlier this year. In his coming out video, he teases that the new album he is working on is "very special" to him.

The Spanish crooner has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and 17 Latin Grammy Awards. Check out his full coming out video below.
