"Paris Is Burning" Headed to Criterion Collection With New Footage Galore

Never-before-seen outtakes! Audio commentary! Joan Rivers?!

Your Blu-ray shelf is about to be 10s across the board, darling!

If you've always wanted to see the children serve it in high-def, your wish has been granted: The mother of all ball movies is getting the deluxe home video release it deserves, because the Criterion Collection has announced its slate of releases for February 2020 and Paris Is Burning one of the titles.

Jennie Livingston's iconic 1990 doc hits Criterion with a new 2K digital restoration, supervised by the director, along with bonus features including an hour of never-before-seen outtakes, an audio commentary, and a conversation between Livingston, filmmaker Thomas Allen Harris, and ball community members Sol Pendavis and Freddie Pendavis.

It will even include the 1991 episode of The Joan Rivers Show featuring Livingston with ball community members Dorian Corey, Pepper LaBeija, Freddie Pendavis, and Willi Ninja!

The Blu-ray release will also feature a gorgeous new cover by Eric Skillman that served as the poster for the film's theatrical re-release this past June.

Shut up and take our money, Criterion!
