Patti LaBelle And James Wright Sang All The Hits At Thanksgiving Dinner

The new BFFs ate well and entertained guests with a night of duets.

James Wright and Patti LaBelle celebrated Thanksgiving with Patti’s family at her Philadelphia home yesterday, and Wright wound up getting a whole lot more than just a slice of fresh sweet potato pie.

Wright, as you may recall, received an invitation to Patti’s home after his review of her Walmart-exclusive sweet potato pie went viral and made it one of this season’s must-have items. In the last two weeks alone, it’s been flying off store shelves and pulling in millions in profit.

United with his idol yesterday, the musically gifted Wright shared a slow dance with Ms. Patti while they performed a duet of “You Are My Friend” for a sea of iPhone cameras:

Clutching a pair of Patti’s infamous sweet potato pie, the two later sang “On My Own,” which James previously nailed in his viral review.

And because it just so happened to be James’ birthday as well, Patti led her guests in a stunning rendition of “Happy Birthday” that flawlessly turned into an a cappella ode to Tupac and Dr. Dre’s “California Love.”

Patti gifted James a new Louis Vuitton duffle bag since “James is going to be a world traveler” now. “God has blessed me with another angel,” she said.

Overwhelmed by the experience, James posted the video to Facebook and wrote:

This has been the best Thanksgiving ever and it’s also been the best birthday ever and I’m very very grateful. And at this point in my life I’m kind of speechless but we serve an awesome God a God that can change your life around in less than a second I seek Him so I can be more and more like Him daily like I always say when I’m done the whole world is going to be smiling. Thankyou Ms. Patti Labelle

Glad to see James’ holiday wish came true!
