Patti LuPone Shaded A Noisy Audience Member In The Sweetest Way Possible
If there's one thing you don't do to Broadway legend Patti LuPone, it's disrespect her during a performance. Some years back she infamously stopped a performance of Gypsy—in the middle of "Rose's Turn, no less—to berate someone for taking pictures. (Seriously, it's worth checking out.)
This Monday, another audience member ran afoul of the Tony winner, who was performing at Manhattan cabaret mainstay 54 Below. Apparently an unidentified woman was making so much noise that other guests were telling her to zip it.
Finally, La Lupone stopped the show and asked sweetly, “What is it, honey? Are you drunk? Are you menopausal?”
The surprised patron replied it was her birthday, so Patti called for a spotlight on the birthday girl and led the entire house in a rousing round of "Happy Birthday."
As soon as "to youuuuu" was out of her mouth, Patti looked at the woman and said, “Now shut up.”
Can we give her another Tony now?
